no. you are always the sponsor. the petitioner is the sponsor and you will fill out a i864 as sponsor. your father will be your joint sponsor or co-sponsor. Even if you don't work and you earned $0, you file as sponsor.

if he doesn't live with you, he will file another i864 as joint sponsor. if he lives with you, he will file the i864A

hi If your father is sponsor, as you have written, then he will fill out a separate I-864.

However, it would probably be best, it may be required, that you use your father as a contributing household member. In which case you show your combined income (and assets, if you show assets) on the I-864 and you and he jointly fill out an I-864A.

Nearly all USCIS forms comes with multiple pages of instructions. Perhaps those of us who are file these forms should read the instruction-set first. I-864 Instruction says: A sponsor [the petitioner] completes and signs Form I-864. A sponsor is required to be at least 18 years old and domiciled in the United States, or its territories or possessions (see Step-by-step Instructions for more information on domicile). The petitioning sponsor must sign and complete Form I-864, even if a joint sponsor also submits an I-864 to meet the income requirement. The list below identifies who must become sponsors by completing and signing a Form I-864.

Long story shortened: You file I-864. Your co-sponor files I-864A. There you go.
