Hi All,

When filing a 1-485 concurrently with a I-130 I understand that these should be assembled in separate groups but can be mailed together. This leads me to my question, both applications ask for passport copies, marriage cert copies, birth cert copies, etc...

So do I need to make separate duplicate copies of all these things or is it ok to just have one group of these copies?

Thanks,

Just one copy each. No duplicates. If you can, list them on your cover letter and/or breakdown sheets. You'll be able to find samples of those on VJ.

Cheers.

Okay so, so far you've had two different responses. I'm agreeing with Otto and Karen and here's why --

When your package GETS to USCIS the two applications are separated. Much like teachers specialise in math or english, certain CO's specialise in different visas/petitions/applications etc. Therefore your I-130 will go to the I-130 dept, and the I-485, that department (simplistically speaking).

In order to save yourself from an RFE, when in doubt, send the thing with MORE evidence, not less. My theory is, they can always shred duplicates, but I will have to mail them if I don't include them in the first place. HUGE hassle.

Best if luck and congrats on starting the process!
