This is what I have (for AoS (with overstay) based on marriage to a USC, currently living in the U.S.).

* I-130 - $355

* I-485 - $1,010 ($930 plus a biometrics fee of $80)

* I-864 - $70

* G-325A - $0

* I-765 - $0

* I-693 - $0

Now, my question is this. I know that I need 1 check for I-130 and 1 check for I-485, but what about I-864... I don't remember seeing anyone even mentioning that $70. So, do I make a third check to... DHS? Also, I have a joint sponsor, do I need to send TWO check for $70 each?

11/07/10 ------- AoS Package received and singed for

11/10/10 ------- NOA1 received for I-130, I-485 and I-765 (emails)

11/12/10 ------- NOA1 received for I-130, I-485 and I-765 (hard copies)

11/12/10 ------- Touches on I-130, I-485 and I-765

11/19/10 ------- Biometrics appointment letter received

12/06/10 ------- RFE for I-693 (I think the issue is that it was not signed. Called USCIS and will receive a letter in a few days explaining)

12/13/10 ------- Biometrics done

12/16/10 ------- EAD card in production (email)

12/20/10 ------- Received "Letter of Explanation" for RFE (Service Request to expedite my case. Called USCIS and was told to ignore that and just send in response to RFE.)

12/22/10 ------- Touch (Email for Post Decision Activity on EAD saying that a letter of approval has been mailed out)

12/24/10 ------- Received EAD in the mail

12/27/10 ------- Applied for SSN

12/31/10 ------- Received Interview letter

01/03/11 ------- Received SSN card in the mail

01/07/11 ------- Mailed out response to RFE (I-693)

01/15/11 ------- Email confirming USCIS received RFE response

01/31/11 ------- Approved!

Pre-Adjustment of Status:

2006 -------- Met Online

02/07 ------- Visited him in the U.S. for what was suppose to be a few weeks (Came in with birth certificate and health card. Health card expired a few months after)

08/07 ------- Decided to get married because we didn't want to be apart (in the U.S.)

10/10 ------- USCIS Medical Done

Theres no fee for the I-864. Theres a fee for the I-693 which is the doctor's costs.

Theres no fee for the I-864. Theres a fee for the I-693 which is the doctor's costs.

No fee for the I-864

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

True, but since the USCIS is going to review the I-864 and not the Department of State, there is no fee required

Why would they even say that... I am starting to truly believe that USCIS gets a kick out of confusing people.

Yeah, there's an internal memo going around. "Don't approve people based on what they tell you, approve them based on their ability to understand the forms!"

Kittyfang, I had the exact same bit of confusion about the "reviewed domestically" bit. Thankfully, that is $140 you get to save! :thumbs:

I hope preparation is sailing along for you. :)

Don't worry - you're not the only person who has "freak out" questions or "silly questions", though I believe that no question is a silly one.

I also wouldn't be surprised if there's such a memo floating around. "If they can't understand what to file, they can't file, therefore less work for us to do. Remember folks, less work means more time to party on Pizza Friday!"

Both the forms AND filing fees Kittyfang posted about will be the same forms/fees you will need. I-864 does NOT require a filing fee however - this was corrected by another poster in this thread. I suggest you read over this entire thread for information. Beyond that, you may find other posts by Kittyfang (and myself too) useful to you as we both are in a similar situation as yourself, however our overstay periods are different.

I have read/been told that an applicant is usually forgiven for "overstay".

Generally speaking, you and your husband must decide if you wish to hire an attorney. There is a wealth of information on this site, and people are extremely helpful. I was able to get a lot of basic information on "what to do" just by browsing and writing a post. If you can afford an attorney, it may be something to consider.

In regards to I-693-I remember paying the civil surgeon around $200&smth...You should call the civil surgeon and find out how much do they charge.
