Hi everybody,

Just wanted to share that today is mine and Dean's 3 year Anniversary! (L) And we can't be together so that sucks but hey we are all used to that. :crying:

Also, I was in the DCF area because Dean and I are finally going to get married hopefully this winter and I've been living back and forth from Belize and the US but mostly in Belize. Dean and I have a business there and want that to be our full time home but we will most likely spend 3 months a year in the states.

The embassy once told Dean that there was no way they would give him a tourist visa because he has a relationship with a USC. Do you think this will still be true today if we can show them that we are both serious about living in Belize? I am not a resident because I was only in Belize 9 months last year and you have to be there for 12. I had to come back home for family reasons. But I can send them all the copies of my passport pages with all my extensions that I have to get every 30 days.

What do you guys think is the best route for us - before and after marriage? We were really wanting to try for a visa maybe this month. I appreciate any helpful advice.

Hugs :luv:

Well congrats on the anni! but as far as the tourist visa, you have me stumped.

Are you pursuing getting a visa to marry there? What's involved with getting one? I suppose that might help to show that you're actively pursuing emigration to Belize...

I don't need a visa to get married in Belize. The only rule is that I am in the country within 3 days of my actual wedding. And that rule may not even apply to us because only one of us is the USC.

The whole thing has me a bit stumped also. I just don't know the best route to go before we get married or after.

Thanks!

Congratulations to you and Dean! That is great news.

As far as your question about US Embassies giving tourist visa's. Each and every consular officer is different and technically anything is possible. But, in my many readings of this board on this topic, the US Embassies throughout the world usually will not grant a tourist visa if they know that that person is engaged or married or whatever to a US citizen. In their minds it shows intent to immigrate, regardless of if that is true at the time. Even though you guys are serious about staying in Belieze it might not be possible. If you guys can afford the fee to try then I would say go for it, but don't set your minds on it. I wish you guys good luck. :)

How far is the embassy? Have you gone to talk with them about this? Maybe if you show them your business receipts and business records that would help.

Whish you lots of happiness and good luck.

:goofy:

EDIT: oh yeah, so if I go down to Belieze do I get a free trip! :D If I remember correctly you guys are doing tourist expeditions...scuba or snorkeling?

You know, SmileyGuy gave me an excellent thought. Here I am thinking that it's the vwp (don't know why) and the only way to find out is when he gets here.

If you can provide written documents to the embassy showing that you both have a business, you plan on moving there, etc....surely they have to take that into acct? And it's not like you two have to shell out the plane fare only to be turned away....submit the app with as much evidence as you can of ties to his country, and hope for the best

***The embassy is in Belize City which is about a 45 minute boat ride from the island...so it's not too far. Dean emailed them recently and said that he wanted to come over on a travel visa to attend a wedding with me and visit my family. Trust me it doesn't matter that he said because there is no way in getting around them already knowing about us. It's a small embassy and they actually know us well from our I-129F and other stuff. Anyway, he was asking about how long it's taking for interviews because they are making them do that now for travel visas too and the lady responded fairly nice. She didn't say "don't bother" or anything like that and the other lady that used to write us back about stuff would have totally said that. She was a sh$%head.

We rent sailboats (small - 1 or 2 people only) and kayaks. And of course you can get a free rental...I'm good to any fellow VJ'er.

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR ADVICE. I'LL HAVE TO LET YOU KNOW WHAT WE DECIDE AND HOW IT GOES.
