It seems like we're the first of May filers that got an RFE. We received it today in the mail. The reason--our page 5 in the I-864 wasn't filled out. That's the page that you list your assets if you're using them to supplement income. We're not using assets and since it says OPTIONAL we didn't fill it out and just sent all the other documentation--tax returns, paystubs, employment letter. I guess we're just going to put zero's in and send it back. I don't know what's more frustrating--the fact that we got an RFE for not putting zero's in an optional section or that we didn't put them there in the first place.

How frustrating! I hope it doesn't cause you too much of a delay. I'm neurotically listing all the things that could result in an RFE for us, and this is another one to add to my paranoia. Seriously, no wonder things take so long and are so expensive to process, if they're sending out RFEs for things like this! :bonk:

Yep, did it today. We just didn't think of it before since we were getting all of his mail - but I talked to the apartment manager today & got permission to put a sticker in the box that has our last name on it (before it just had my maiden name.) Arrgh. I'm kicking myself - really hope that it just hasn't been delivered yet!

Fingers crossed for you! I hope you get it lickety-split! If it doesn't come in the next few days, can you schedule an infopass or something? Is the office close enough to make it worth your while?

I-129F

6 Nov 2009: NOA1

Yeah, I thought about an Infopass. I called USCIS last night just to see if they could tell me IF the biometrics letter has been mailed. They were, of course, useless and told me that the last thing they can see is that they received the case on the 17th, blah blah. He couldn't even tell me definitively if the appointment is scheduled by the national center or by the local office. Tried googling to get a phone number for the local Dallas office (which is close enough to try doing an Infopass but since I'm not sure if it was lost or just hasn't gotten to us yet I don't know what they could tell me.) Couldn't find a phone number for the office in Irving.

Just annoyed at myself more than anything for not just having them put his name in the mailbox sooner! Argh. :bonk: I'm just worried if it was mailed & we miss the appointment...what will happen?? Hopefully it will resolve itself before we come to that.

I'd do a few things:

1) Call the post office that delivers your mail. Mail doesn't necessarily get returned to sender immediately if they have no where to deliver it to. It's probably a long shot, but call and explain your scenario. Ask if it's there common practice to put it in the box anyway, ask if they hold any mail, ask if they keep any log of any mail that is returned? It never hurts to break out some grovelling and expressions of desperation, which probably won't be difficult for you at the moment.

2) have you registered and checked the status of the applications on uscis.gov? if you have, does your "last updated" date on the screen listing all your applications match that of your NOA1 or is it some more recent date? If it's some more recent date, that may be a sign your biometrics letter was issued. If it matches your NOA1, I'd think that's more of a sign that it wasn't. Certainly not foolproof either way, but could help you have some idea.

3) I think the phone number for the Dallas USCIS office is (214) 655-5384 (I couldn't find an office in Irving?). I'd call and explain the situation to the first person you get on the phone. You have a chance that they will either help you or transfer you to ASC, and probably about as equal a chance that they won't do anything.

At this juncture, I wouldn't worry that you've missed the appointment just yet - jump that bridge when you get there. If I come up with other suggestions, I'll try to pass them on, but this is where I'd start if it were me.

Thanks for the tips! I will get on it this afternoon...I'm just nervous. Our NOA date is 5/17 and the last updated for all the forms was 5/19. I will try the number for the Dallas office provided - even if it's not the correct office (I know the office where the interview will be is in Irving) perhaps they can give me a number or some advice. I'll definitely try calling the post office though & see if by any chance they have it.

I know we're still well within normal processing times, it just seems like everyone else has gotten theirs within a few days to a week of the NOA! So I'm paranoid.

Hi

I was reading what you suggested below and wondered if you could help me on this one , when we submitted AOS we opted for the email and texts from USCIS as well. Do we still have to register on their site as well to get case updates or do they email and text those as per the form we completed and sent in. I did receive the texts saying that we had NOA already. Thank you .

HI everyone, I only just found this thread, good to see there is a post for us may filers ;).

We sent our AOS packet out on the 17th, they received it on the 19th, and we got our NOA1 on the 24th. Was touched again on the 25th, which was when our hardcopies were mailed, then touched again on the 27th which was when our Biometrics letter was sent. We recieved our hard copies in the mail on May 28th, then received the biometrics letter on tuesday June 1st. Did a walkin for our biometrics yesterday on the 2nd. And was touched again today. So fingers crossed we will hear something soon.

Good luck to you all, hope it all goes smooth for all of us.

Hi everyone, I'm a May filer too! So good to see fellow may filers :)

jilybeann5, if it makes you feel any better, I just got an email case update today saying that I will be getting an RFE in the mail.

Right now I don't even know what evidence they want because the email doesn't say.

But like you, I also didn't fill out page 5 of form 864 (except a zero in the very last line on the page)

Sooo... maybe I will get the same thing.. orrrrr maybe something worse, who knows!

I gave them everything they asked for in the intructions for every single form, so no idea what more evidence I can give.

SIGH..

Before today the process was going smoothly though! So I guess I should have expected at least one bump in the road.

Hope everyone else's is going well and speedy!

Hi WizandDorothy,

Have you signed up for case updates? If you sign up on USCIS' website (in the resources section) you will get a username and can add all your receipt numbers for all your pending cases.

So everytime to sign up you can see a date of last update next to each case. I believe that when that date changes/gets updated is what everyone else here calls a "touch"

Ok guys, I am just a paranoid weirdo I think :) Talked to indopie, who filed 2 days before us and is going through Dallas as well & she hasn't gotten her biometrics letter either. This makes me feel better - maybe our office is just more backed up than others. I will try to stop being a worrywart :)

Yeah I wouldnt worry about it to much quiet yet. From what I understand the texas service centers are super busy, due to the location of the state with the border lol. So just relax they will tell you when they need something. Have you tried calling your local asc office to see if your biometrics has been scheduled yet? Also, just to feel a little better you can always go in and do an infopass to see if anything is in the system, but thats only if you get overly worried. Take care and try not to stress to much. ;)
