Thanks for the luck. But we have not received any kind of approval for the GC. Only a touch on 21 July. I think we are stuck in the CSC Black Hole.

Your welcome, wait patiently, & hopefully this month will have progress on your GC, you can follow up now,by calling the hotline in your last letter that you recieve, it's morethan 4 months already, since you file, before you dial , ready your personal identification on hand & paper & pen, then listen to which number of extension is related to your case, according from GC Processing Timeline must be approved within 4 months after you file, either/or with interview or Transfered, so as i read your filing date was may 11,why not give a try? Good Luck.

Update for us: we are now in the process of re-doing the medical exam and of course it's been a hassle. We found a CS who would do the exam for $72, so we went there. Sifa needs a new chest x-ray (even though he had one in December for the K-1 and another one in April or May when he went to volunteer at the hospital, but they won't use those.) so now we're going to the health department tomorrow to get that, then he has to go BACK to the CS with the results and they will fill out the I-693 and we can send it in. Just frustrating...we're hoping though that once we send this in approval will be right after that so we can stop dealing with USCIS for a while!

I knew it couldn't be that easy....I finally got through to the TB clinic at the health department this afternoon and they ONLY work by appointment (no walk-ins according to receptionist) and they don't have any appointments until October 22. Our RFE must be returned by October 26, so that's likely going to be cutting it too close (have to get the results, go back to the CS and have them fill out the paperwork and the 22nd is a Friday so we'd be looking at trying to get EVERYTHING done on Monday the 25th and overnighting it. No thanks!)

I called the CS back this afternoon and they gave us the name of a private doctor who is a pulmonologist and can do the x-ray and evaluation that the CS requires (well, they say that USCIS needs an expert to read the x-rays, not the CS, which i think is INSANE)so we are waiting to hear back from them tomorrow about an appointment and how much it's going to be. The health department is $80 for the x-ray and the eval, so I'm guessing the private doc is going to cost a pretty penny. My other option is to try to find another health department in a neighboring county, if they'll even see him since he's not a resident of one of those counties.

Sooooo ridiculous. I just am irritated that we are having to pay so much for THEIR mistake!

First off, congrats to all of those who got their greencards!

MalolostoUSA - Grrr! I hope they get their butts in gear! Best hopes that this will soon be behind you.

Katie and Sifa - what a nightmare this is turning out to be! I'm sorry to hear it hasn't been a quick, easy fix like we all hoped. What did you hear back from the private pulmonologist guy?

Things haven't been going smoothly on our end, either:

Got home last night to find a letter from the USCIS (after what was already a pretty awful day). It contained a change of address form and an RFE that had been returned to sender and sent back to us, asking for the FULL MEDICAL!!   And of course, they didn't extend the date, so it's due by Oct. 21st.

I'm so torn because I don't want to pay a zillion more dollars to do another bloody medical which we don't even need. I'm going to get Ewan to call and email the place in Christchurch where he did his medical for the K-1 and see if they can mail us a copy. Thank goodness we still have the DoS vaccination form (we sent one of two originals WITH the GC application, but of course they seem to have lost it).

Of course, there's the confusion that the online system says that the card is in production, so I called the customer service line, and talked to two people. One person said that yes, it was in production, but then she transferred me to someone else who said, "Document production can mean anything that they send to you." #######?! So, we've made an infopass appt, but couldn't get in until Oct. 14, meaning that we only have a week to answer the RFE after if that's what they tell us to do.

SO FRUSTRATED!!

Oh no!!! Ugh. I know exactly what you are going through (minus the confusion about card production...) It's tough to decide what you're going to do. We just knew going through Kenya wasn't really an option for us because even if we offered to pay to have it FedExed to us I'd still doubt that they'd actually do anything about it. Plus IF Sifa hadn't had the whole positive skin test thing we would only have had to pay $75 for the medical at the civil surgeon and the FedEx alone would have been at least that if not more.

Private pulmonologist wants $450 for an office visit because Sifa doesn't have insurance (to add a dependent on my insurance at work is $750 per month, and there's NO way we can afford that) so...we scheduled an appointment with them since they could at least see him October 15, but we're still investigating other options. The dumbest thing about it is, Sifa had a chest x-ray and eval in APRIL from a hospital here he volunteers at, and the pulmonologist said that should be sufficient to make their determination if he needs to take meds or not. So...we're paying $450 for him to transcribe this onto the I-693?? Arrrrgh. Beyond annoying.

Sorry you are going through the same thing!! This sucks.
