Anybody know the Congressman for Houston Texas, Harris County Area?? Please post info or pm me . Thank you.

There are several Representatives for the Houston area - it's a big place! You can look up yours here by ZIP code: http://www.house.gov/zip/ZIP2Rep.html

The Senators for Texas are John Cornyn & Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Woohoo! Congrats :)

I am beginning to wish we had had an interview...now that we have the EAD Sifa can at least look for work (he has an interview on Tuesday! ) but we were hoping to get him enrolled in a class or two at the community college so he can get a jump on pre-reqs for nursing school. Alas...not looking like that's going to happen for this semester since they require a green card for residency. We had a bunch of touches in a row in July and nothing in a month! But again, at least we have the EAD.

Ditto the bolded above. I'm glad that Ewan is able to start working soon (he's in the background check process now, with a job lined up), but I will be SO glad to be done with the constant checking of the USCIS website for a whole 21 months!

How did Sifa's interview go? Does he feel good about it? Good luck to him!

I wish him the very best on Tuesday. We are hoping and praying that something happens this week to our GC. It's been a long silence to the transferred cases, while those interviewed are having responses.

Sifa's interview is actually next Tuesday but he has done more research about interviews and questions they may ask than I ever did for any job interview! We're going to take a practice bus run up there on Saturday so he is sure he knows how to get there. Either way, it's good experience. Plus he (finally!!) started volunteering at the hospital closest to us on Monday - they did a background check and it took foreeeeever since they wanted a physical last address. We explained there is no such thing in rural Kenya, which is why we put a PO Box...so it took a long time. Anyway, he's enjoying getting out of the house a bit more.

I hope Ewan's background check is swift and he can start working soon!!

Ah, I see. Well, good on him for volunteering! Would that Ewan would be doing something so productive :bonk: (naw, kidding - he's studying for the GRE and keeping the dishes cleaned :) )

Good luck to Sifa on the interview next week!!

Hi WizandDorothy,

Another touch on I-485 today aug13,2010. They transferred to CSC last night.. Whoo hoo Thank you God.. I just pray they dont have it sitting on a desk somewhere when it gets to CSC.. Really and truly though if I get the EAD and Ap and they take along time with GC I wouldn't really be worried cause I coould still work and travel..

I had my interview over 3 weeks ago now, it went smoothly and I already have my GC in hand. Just go in there and be calm and confident, dress conservatively, be respectful, make sure you answer yes and no, not yeah and nah, be clear and concise with your answers and remember they are only doing their jobs, they're really not trying to make your life difficult.

Make sure you take as much proof as possible, they probably won't ask for it, but if you have it and they see you have made the effort then you should be good to go. Oh and if you think they may want to see something and you can't decide to take it, then take it, as it might be the one thing they do ask for.

Hope that helps some and good luck :)
