Hi everyone,

I wanted to join a little late if you don't mind! Glad to have found this forum and wait with you all!

You can see our timeline in my signature. I have a few questions, hopefully someone can answer for us!

1-Our case was transferred to the California Service Center. However, we've yet to receive a notice that the case was received (we've only got the notice it was transferred). I've seen in others timelines that they were alerted that it was also received. This worries me as its been 19 days seen we received that notice that it was transferred, and it was our last communication. Should we worry that this is lost or a big delay?

2-All these 'touches'. We haven't received one (which I presume would be emailed to us [yes we did sign up for that feature]). Does that mean the case hasn't been looked at at all?

My husband just completed a second job interview at an organization he really wants to work for and things look good. We're both unemployed so this would be the answer to our prayers if it works out. However, receiving the EAD in good time is stressing us out majorly right now.

Wishing everyone all the best! Thanks in advance!

Jessica

Hi Jessica and Welcome

Your case got transferred to CSC, di don't mean to be rude but, did you get an NOA stating it was transferred? If so then your case if being looked at and if it goes to CA then you are very unlikely to be called for interview, however there is still a chance you may have to interview, it's never 100%, but wishing you the best that you don't have to interview.

The USCIS website isn't kept up to date unfortunately, for some yes, for others no, mine hasn't been touched since May 27, but I've already received my letter for interview which was sent on June 10th, yet my USCIS account says that our case is still in initial review.

EAD is another issue, should your husband be offered a position, please make and INFOPASS appointment and tell them he has been offered a job, but cannot take up the offer until he has work authorization in place, hopefully they will agree to it right there and then and get a card out in the mail to you. Speak to Imtan, he can tell you about it as he has just got his EAD expedited due to his job.

I hope this helps a little.

Good Luck with everything :)

Hi BethandBilly,

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions, much appreciated. We did indeed receive the NOA so I should just stop worrying and hope they are dealing with it at the CSC!

If my husband is offered this job, then we will try and make this INFOpass appt although I thought you had to have been in the system for at least 90 days to do so. If I can't, I will call our local congressman, because this is so incredibly important for our money situation. I will look up the thread you are mentioning.

Thanks again!

Jessica

Hiya Jessica

The post is on page 18 from Imtan, he had already been working as he had a work visa before, but he may be able to point you in the right direction.

Oh and you're very welcome :)

Hi Jessica & welcome! :)

We didn't get a hardcopy notice that the case had arrived at CSC. When we log in to the website now this is what it says: The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office. I got a text saying the same thing about a week after we got the one saying it was transferred, but I think the email/text system is kind of unreliable.

Touches are not sent via text/email...when people talk about that they are just talking about when they log in to check case status on the uscis.gov website. When you log in you can see a "Last Updated" date - people are just posting every time they see a new date, which can occur any time anyone touches your file.

Good luck to your husband on the job! Hopefully if he is offered the job you can get the EAD expedited through an infopass...I think sometimes if you can prove economic hardship (I don't know how difficult this is to do) they can get you set up.

Welcome to Jessica!

Hmmmm, I wonder if we could try doing this to expedite my husband's EAD. We got a double hire, but the University policy makes it unable to sponsor him on a work visa, so we have to wait until his EAD is approved for him to start working. One of my co-workers just quit, too, so it would be extra helpful for him to start soon. Although judging from timelines, we'll hopefully get approval in the next couple of weeks anyway. Bwah! So confusing!

Hi! jessicaS,

Welcome to the group of May 2010 Filers, The original time Frame for EAD to approved is 3 months from the date you filed, and for Form- I-485, is 4 months, so I think your in good shape, not tome to worry yet. Touched which I normally say in my status update ,every time i recieved E-mail from USCIS& Text at the same time& date, and it's not a date only touched or changed but i definitely recieved formal E-mail from USCIS stating my status or the next step. Good luck to our AOS Journey All May 2010 filers.

Hi Jessica,

Welcome to the group!!

It is great to know that there are others out there going through the same :)

1. The e-notification is not dependable. I've sign up and never received anything... So I don't think you need to worry anything.

2. Touched is just an update we receive on uscis website. No notification for it!

I think you should try the infopass too!! Some are successful with getting EAD expressed :star:

Anyone from AZ? We're still waiting on our biometrics letter. Just want to see if anyone from Arizona is in the same situation. I called the uscs and they're saying the wait is normal. Trying to get info from others who applied in may and are in AZ. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey there

Yeah I wrote photos, I should have put pics, I realized it after I had posted my list. Oh and I'm getting letters from my Mother in Law and my Husbands Grandmother, my Husband is also trying to get one from one of his good buddies, does anyone know if this is a good idea?

Hi Beth and Billy good luck on your interview. I'm just wondering.. I saw at your timeline that you did an INFOPASS appointment.. Was it to expedite something on the process, EAD or AOS perhaps? Sorry just curious.. I am looking about doing INFOPASS but i was thinking my application for AOS not even on the 60 days period. :innocent:

Hiya April

It is the only time year my husband and I will be able to attend the interview together, so rather than wait for an appointment to come through I went and made one via INFOPASS.

Your case has been referred to CSC, that's good news, you probably won't have to interview, which is always a good thing. Pretty awesome that you got updates on the website, I haven't had anything other than it saying our application is at initial request :( Best of Luck with your AOS :)

Btw you have a beautiful pic of your little one there :)

Thanks everyone for the welcome...as it turns out hubby didn't get the offer in the end...really devastating, as it went so far. He's really struggling at the moment as its been hard and bureaucratic to get into society here for him. He does have his SSN and just got his temporary driving license (we both thought he'd get the real thing, another disappointment). He left behind a good and prestigious job in Sierra Leone only to be jobless and broke here and can't do much but sit and wait for who knows how long until EAD and a job (which also is difficult at the moment). Its hard also for him to accept me as a breadwinner (I've just got a short term consultancy to pay very good money).

Sorry to get off on a tangent, that's where we are at the moment.

Hope someone getw some good news soon!

Hang in there - from your timeline he hasn't been here long. Sifa goes through some of the same emotions (left a pretty good job to come and now can only stay home & watch World Cup all day) but we try to keep the big picture in focus. I know everyone here is anxious for the EAD/GC to come through though.

We went to biometrics today - took probably 30-45 mins wait then just a few minutes for the actual event. Pretty smooth though & we are glad to have it out of the way :)

Wow, you had to wait, is your Biometrics office busy all the time, that's crazy, but at least it's done now :)
