Hello all. My NOA1 date is 5-27-10. I just got a text last night that they sent us a RFE on 6-15-10 :crying: . I know I am being inpatient but I want to know what they are wanting. I tried to call USCIS and can not get anyone on telephone. Does anyone know if they will tell you over the phone what they are needing? Also, what time zone are they in? It says they take calls from 8am to 8pm, but I cant get to anyone. Im in EST. Im wondering if it has something to do with the medical. All I sent in was my husbands vaccination report and not the civil surgeon form (I took a chance on this per others I know only sent this with success). Thanks.

Got our RFE today..They are requesting the original birth certificate. My husbands birth certificate got burned in a fire when he was a baby. During the interview process he obtained a declaration of age from the National Population Commission. This was acccepted at the Embassy. I sent in a copy of this. Surely they are not wanting the original of this. We will never see it again, lol. There is nothing else he can get other than what he already has. I see no hope in calling the 800 number for USCIS, those people only read from a script I think, lol. UUGGGHHHH!

You need to get birth certificate from your home country, where he was born. If the date of registration of birth is within 1 year of birth, then that will do, if not, provide secondary evidence(2 affidavits, school certificate etc)

He was born in Nigeria. I dont think there is anything else other than the declaration of age that we can get. He does have papers with him from where he attended school. So are you saying that we can send in other official documents that have his dob on them?

Hi Iamtan

I was looking at your timeline and was interested to know something please, I see you got a INFOPASS appointment (Expedite EAD), can you tell me how you did this and why , was it to get the EAD faster after RFE, as I have received a RFE , my kids are going to re-do medicals as it looks like they have been lost. And this is now going to make things take longer , we have our first Biometrics appt this week as well , but can I get a expedite on EAD after next Biometrics appt ? Thanks for help !!

Congrats on all the interviews... hopefully that means we are all within/about a month of good news!!! Here's crossing my fingers that we see movement on the EAD soon.

Wiz: I wondered the same about lamtan until I looked at the timeline closer. The original visa was an H1-B, which is a work visa. According to the history, the work visa was set to expire on June 17, 2010, so my guess is that the INFOPASS appointment was to expedite the EAD so that the work that lamtan already has could continue uninterrupted after the expiration of the H1-B. I know of someone who was in a similar situation, and USCIS expedited the EAD for them but it's not a common occurrence. If I am incorrect, I hope lamtan will correct me.

Hi jmd77 and WizandDorothy

Jmd77 explanation was spot on. During my infopass appointment I had to convince the IO why I'm qualified to expedite my EAD card. She was very kind enough to contact National Benefits Center and my EAD was approved immediately and was told it should arrive within 10 business days. At the moment, I'm temporarily "terminated" from my work until I get the actual card in hand. I checked the mailbox today and instead of getting the card I got my AP approved/issued. I hope I can get the card by tomorrow because its so bored staying home... well... at least i get to watch the World Cup! :)

By the way, if anyone here lives in Los Angeles and wants to schedule infopass, pick the Santa Ana Field Office and choose the earliest AM time slot (mine was 7:15am and the place was empty)

Current Status: H-1B Visa

Thank you. He contacted his mother yesterday and they are going today to get something similiar to a birth certificate from the local government there. The paper we submitted was only a declaration of age and did not list his parents names or anything.

Hi! Naijahbound,

Baptismal Certificate will help too, and Authenticated Joint Affidavit of Support from two not Relatives but friend of the Family,Where he grew up ,that knows him , stating his personal Identification. that is Strong evidence that he is telling the Truth. Good Luck.

No "touches" but we got the interview letter.

I just have one question.

Do they send RFEs even after scheduling interview ?

I've heard about this being possible but never encountered anyone who's had such a case...
