Hi everyone,I am from the U.S. and I'm here in the Philippines right now with my beautiful fience Marie. My question is - in a few days we will be getting married but during the last couple of days we let temptation get the best of us and now there could be a possibility that she could be pregnant. If Marie was to get pregnant during our K-3 Visa process will the pregnancy have a big effect on the K3 and if so how much of an effect and/or what type of effect (time frame,etc...) . Would the day of conception be an issue -example: pregnant 1 week before marriage or pregnant after marriage? Someone that is doing a k1 told me that if she got pregnant during the Visa process it could add years to the process. But he was some guy I met in the airport in Taiwan so I dont know how much I trust his words or if it would even apply to us because we are doing a K3 Visa (not a K-1). I am hoping someone can help me with this question ,We are going to play it safe for now but I am afraid temptation will staring us in the face again and I DO NOT want to delay the day Marie and I can be together on a permanent basis. Knowing the consequences (if any) will help us stay strong. If it will not delay the length of time it will take for her Visa then hooray hooray because we both want to have a baby, but not now if it is gonna mess up the Visa. Thanks ahead of time for any help.

My understanding is that it would only become a issue if the baby was born before the visa process was done with. In which case you would then need to do the same application for your child.

Im no expert though, so im sure someone else on here will have a more definate answer!

Good luck

If she is pregnant it will have no effect on your K3 application.... your child will be a USC and will not require a visa only the process to get a us passport, I am not sure of the exact process to do that but there have been others here who have had to do this.....

good luck with everything

USCIS does not care about moral issues such as whether you & your fiance have slept together prior to the wedding. besides, you're getting married in a few days....i doubt anyone is going to be counting on their fingers to figure out dates of conception.

good luck with your visa process, and congratulations!

If she is pregnant the day she gives birth you call the us embassy and register the birth abroad and the baby automatically is a USC.

First Congratulations to the both of you.

You will need to file the fiance petition quickly to get everything rolling on this end. While your visiting gather up all the documents you need now otherwise have your fiance IBC express several certified copies of the documents and photos you need to file.

My wife and I are in similar circumstance as we found out in July that she is pregnant so we are hoping and praying that this K3 visa will finish up by Christmas otherwise we will need to obtain a passport for baby after the birth there next March 07.

I spoke with several VJ members here who have reported some success in getting the Manila embassy interview date moved up a few weeks by submitting documentation from the doctor about the pregnancy however the process on this end with immigration still needs to be completed. The other replies are correct in that the baby will only need a US Passport as the baby will be a US Citizen. There are so many variables and you've just added another timeline to the process so don't waste time!

good luck and congrats.

04/25/2006 l married Cebu Philippines

11/28/2006 l Interview US Embassy Manila

12/15/2006 l Received k3 VISA

12/27/2006 l POE Detroit USA - Home!!!

AOS - Dallas DORA

07/17/2007 l AOS Interview - accepted into DORA 90 day program

09/06/2007 l Biometrics Appointment Dallas Texas

10/15/2007 l AOS Approved - received "Welcome to the United States" Letter

10/23/2007 l Received Greencard "Permanent Resident Card"

next: lift greencard 2yr condition June/2009 / goal: US Citizenship - 2010

Minor correction to the above for anyone who may be reading and be unfamiliar... the petition that will be filed for is not the K1 (fiance) but the K3 (spouse), as the OP correctly states. They will be married at the time the petition is filed.

OH MY GOSH-THANKYOU EVERYONE-What a comfort all your answers have given us. I cant stop smiling, neither can Marie. I knew I could get help from the forum. You all are such a wonderful group of people. Thanks Again. As far as the statement about using birth control-Its a long story and possibly to late for that anyhow. But yes-Birth Control would be a way to control our temptations. Good Luck everyone and God Bless

Or you can use birth control and give in to temptation as often as you like. I prefer this solution.

2004

April A friend told me that she thought my ideal man lived in Wyoming or Montana.

May 17 Did search on match.com. Found no-one in Wyoming. Only wrote to one person in Montana...his name was John. He replied two hours later.

Jun 26 Flew to Missoula to meet him & a weekend trip turned into a five week visit...

Many trips between US, Canada & Europe.

2005

March 31 During a meeting in Vancouver, John proposed & I said YES!!!

Jun 2 Finally sent off our I-129F & a few days later we received NOA1. I am now officially an alien bride-to-be.

Aug 22 Email notification of NOA2.

Sep 12 Received letter to say application would be forwarded to US Embassy.

Nov 23 Returned packet 3 to Embassy

Nov 30 Medical

2006

Jan 5 Got interview date

Feb 1 Interview. APPROVED!

Feb 2 Visa delivered.

Feb 7 Flight to Seattle.

Feb 8 Finally back home in Missoula, MT. I'm happy, John's happy & the cats are ecstatic - together again!

Apr 22 Wedding Day!

May 6 Sent AOS application

May 7 Honeymoon

My wife and I also want to have a baby. But, I would not want to be apart from her for the first 5 to 9 months of her pregnancy. To me, that is a MAJOR factor. This process is hard enough without her dealing with all that comes from being pregnant. I want my wife safe and sound in our home, together, when she is pregnant with our child. Throw caution to the wind later when you are together. For now, put a cover on it!
