Well today is the big day.. My Anna is about six hours away from landing at Lax.. What a journey for both of us. It goes without saying what a huge help VJ has been, and all of you that have actively participated in helping us along.. Thank you.. Looking back in October, the task and this process seemed daunting, and I am a lawyer.. The forms, the notary, the dreaded boxes where one of many answers may work.. Ahh, wow.. Then after the forms, come the worst part of all.. the waiting.. did i get it right?? will i get a touch today?? round and round the head would go... Stuck in limbo with all of your hopes, dreams and future in the hands of someone who you only know through the cold initials of USCIS.. what a process.. At times I came here for specific answers.. At others, I came to find answers to questions I did not even know i had.. But mostly I came here to share with all of you in our collective journeys. I really appreciate the support, the advice and all of your time..

Way to go. I AM SURE?!! you have the odd numbered red roses waiting for her at home, plus some chocolates and champagne?

Your life with USCIS is not over but you two together can tackle that.

It IS very nice; good luck to you guys.

New sheets is a dead giveaway your a slob. Just take the best (or only) set you have and get them professionally cleaned and pressed. Clever, heh?

Congrats!

Two things:

1. New sheets are fine. It shows you care and have only been "used" by you as a couple.

2. No matter how clean you think your house is before she arrives it really isn't.

Good luck on the rest of your Journey, Mark. Now the real fun begins! You thought the paperwork was challenging... HA!

If you haven't done so already, try to find a Russian shop or international deli or something of that type for her to shop in once she gets her clock adjusted. She may need a little extra sleep for the next few days but once she's good to go, she'll be overwhelmed by the local supermarket and their lack of "good food."

As for changing the sheets and cleaning the house - don't set the bar too high. Let her know you're a slob now so she'll never complain about it later. "But my queen, you knew I was a slob when you moved in here."

Slim is right, be yourself from the get go. Hopefully, the honesty and realness will set the stage for a long lasting relationship. Or, it could show the relationship is not "made in heaven." Either way, you have been honest and real...so no one can complain of being fooled.
