So I'm just about to send the big package to R for the interview, and just noticed my co-sponsor wrote her relationship to ME where it asks for the beneficiary's relationship to sponsor. She wrote "First cousin of U.S. petitioner." So now it looks like my fiance is my first cousin...cough.

What are we dealing with here? Major mistake? Do I have to get her to send me a new form? The rest of her support packet is stellar, totally fantastic. She included about 18 thousand proofs of her identity, income, everything.

Halp!

Adding: We're just three weeks out from our interview date so I'm loath to get on her case about sending me a new form. Waiting for her to do that scares me. What about my correcting it? Adding a note? Leaving it alone? I want to leave a week or two just to get the package over the ocean. I really want to send this thing by Monday.

Eek!

I think this is one of many questions posted on here that does not have a simple or right answer. The best answer overall is to ask your joint sponsor to redo the form and write fiancee of first cousin.

If you submit an additional sheet, you are correcting the mistake which is not truly a material misrepresentation nor an intent to mislead the DOS. When you submit the additional sheet you are informing them of the mistake and correcting the information. I don't see that they will give you a 221(g) for that and ask you to get the joint sponsor to redo the form.

The only problem is you are adding or correcting information to the joint sponsor's form, not your (the sponsor's) form. Can you ask your Cousin to write the correction, date and send it to you. That might be the same amount of trouble as correcting the I-134 and having her send it to you.

Okay I've just written her requesting an addendum note, gave her the text and hopefully she'll throw it in the mail. She's busy and I'm so over asking for people's help. It's hard to imagine them denying for this, but what do I know. Must this entire process be so fraught? Yes, yes it must.

Thanks friend.
