My apologies if this is not the correct forum for this question.

My husband and I are planning a three day vacation to Canada in September this year. We will be driving in. I have a conditional (2 year) Green Card that will expire in early February 2011. My (Australian) passport still has my maiden name on it, but my Green Card, Social Security card and American driver's license has my new name. Will I be able to enter Canada and re-enter the US as long as I have sufficient ID? Do I need to obtain a re-entry permit? Is my Green Card too close to expiry to travel?

Thank you.

Since you are crossing a land border - just the green card is fine and you don't need to present your passport. If for some obscure reason they do ask for it, you can simply explain it is in your maiden name, which is very common.

Have a nice trip!

Canada Border Services Agency

If you are a U.S. citizen, you do not need a passport to enter Canada; however, you should carry proof of your citizenship such as a birth certificate, a certificate of citizenship or naturalization or a Certificate of Indian Status, as well as a photo ID. If you are a permanent resident of the United States, you must bring your permanent resident card (i.e. green card) with you.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection

(click U.S. as country of citizenship then click Special Groups)

U.S. Lawful Permanent Residents: Document requirements for Lawful Permanent Residents will not change under WHTI. U.S. Lawful Permanent Residents can continue to use their permanent resident card (Form I-551) or other valid evidence of permanent residence status.
