Hi everyone,

I frequently call NVC but I am always connected to an Operator. I want to use the AVR. Do you have to press any additional numbers (like, press 3) to be connected to the AVR?

Thanks!

If you dial the NVC (603)334-0700, usually you will get a busy signal, but keep on dialing it. Once you get through you will be connected to the AVR. Just put in your case number and it will automatically give you the AVR status.

Then you can select if you want to talk to an OP.

At least that is how they were doing it when we were going through the NVC!good.gif

Once you get through on the line, push whichever applies for the language, it will say that operators are available from blah, blah, blah and to press 5 to talk to an operator. If you do NOT press "5", it will continue to say, for status on your recent immigrant visa (or something like that) press 1. When you push 1 there, it will tell you that you'll need your receipt or case #. Follow the prompts from there and you should be able to just hear the recorded status.

It sounds like they haven't inputted your information into the system yet. Give them at least a week after being sent to the NVC for them to put it into their data banks.

You will find out that NVC does things at it's own pace, just like the USCIS, but quicker!innocent.gif

LOL I have the whole system memorized. If you call during business hours you dial 2-1-1-1 for USCIS number OR 2 for NVC Number. If you call after business hours or on a weekend skip the first 2.

Thanks guys. I just figured out that I am always connected to an operator since I always call during their business hours. When I call beyond their business hours it is connected to the AVR. Now my problem is that I have a querty phone and it doesnt seem to understand the input of my case number! Wahahaha. But never mind, I've given up. I figured that the operators dont mind me bugging them ever so often. LOL Thanks again! Good luck to us all.

CIS? if you sent off the DS-230 packet, there was a coversheet with yer NVC casefile # on it. Find that one, use that one, instead.

It will NOT start with 'WAC' or 'EAC' - it will have the 3 letters that are the abbreviations for the Embassy.

If you were using the CIS #, at this stage, I think it's gonna fail, regardless.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
