I have been scouring the threads and topics and cannot find any useful information for this.

How soon after should my husband get his conditional green card, social security card and welcome to the US letter?

I see in people's timeline when they had gotten theirs, but still there is hardly any information on what to expect once they arrive.

We went to our local SS office last Friday to see if he was in the system yet, and according to the lady we spoke to there he has not been put into the system. She recommended for us to come back 4 weeks after POE and if he still isn't in the system to fill out a new application.

So that takes care of the ss # but still don't know anything about the CGC.

Any info and/or past experiences will be appreciated!!!!

We got his green card after six weeks.

As for the social security card, that's another story. We signed the DS-230 to have it automatically applied for but we never got it. We too went to the SS office and the lady told us that he had not been put into the system. We had to order his at the SS office, and he got it about 14 days later.

The SSA office needs to wait for the USCIS to enter your husband's info in the system before they can issue him his SSN. It can take the USCIS about 2-7 weeks to enter his information in the system, so wait a few weeks and if you still haven't received his card, call them to find out where they are in the process. As for his SSN, wait an additional week after he receives his green card, if he doesn't get it, go in there in person and file for a number. That's what we ended up doing since my husband's SS card never arrived in the mail even though we had checked the box in his DS-230.

Ahmed got his SSN after three weeks. The GC arrived almost 8wks after his arrival. USCIS told us that the POE (JFK) is delayed because of all the immigrants coming through. So JFK didn't even send his file to USCIS until 3-4 weeks AFTER his arrival. Hope that helps.

Good point. The POE that processes you can definitely affect the timeline of receiving your card. I crossed at a land POE, applied for my SSN three weeks after that, received my SSN card 6 days later; my green card arrived a month after my POE.

Thanks for all the input. That at least makes me feel a little bit better knowing that it can take a while.

And yes, Sameh's POE was JFK also. So, we will wait.

We went to the SS office last Friday and they had said to wait at least a month before even checking.

Everyday he checks the mailbox and calls me to tell me "not yet".

He's is known for being impatient! blush.gif

Fiancee visa to green card is a different process than spouse visa to green card. This is a spouse visa forum. You'll find your answers in the adjustment of status guide and the applicable forum.
