BNP 'expects' to be UK's fourth biggest party

The British National Party "fully expect to push Labour close" in both Barking and Stoke-on-Trent Central.

Stopping short of saying they expect to win either seat, the BNP said the response they had been getting on the doorsteps had been "very encouraging".

The BNP said it expects to be the UK's fourth-largest party by votes cast.

...

In the 2005 general election the BNP was the eight biggest party across the UK in terms of votes.

Maybe, I would still think the greens would outvote both the BNP and UKIP.

Mind you, they did get more air time on the BBC than I expected - it's sometimes hard to know what's the best way to deal with these things. Is allowing them to have a platform and spout their gibberish worse than trying to ban them? Not sure.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Yeah, party's-own polling is oft exxagerated--and reality will oft tell different.

Examples:

  • Canada 1993, where Tories (prior to election) expected double-digits seats (though the PM who had then just resigned gave a broad hint about it to his successor; she had told him "I can probably get 20-30" to which he replied "please point them out")--and they got a total of TWO
  • One of BJP's own-polls in 1999 expected BJP to get (narrow) majority--they DID get more seats than held in 1998, but STILL needed to horsetrade together coalition
  • In 2004, BJP's own-poll predicted continuation of status-quo (BJP-coalition government)--result exactly opposite (Congress coalition)

I saw a van today with BNP logos and Union Jack flags all over it. What a surprise that the two guys driving it had shaved heads :P

One of their local candidates was in the news this week for making jokes about thalidomide babies. Apparently he was "disturbed" that he was criticised for it, and that in his opinion it is discriminatory to laugh at irishmen, scotsmen and englishmen jokes but not at the disabled.

Another one was in a fist fight the other day with some Asian men who spat at him.

Some real geniuses they've got in that party.

Idiots.
