Well, I blubbered "our first meeting" story in another thread but was thinking it might be a good "feel good" thread for others if they want to share... (F)

What was your first meeting like?

Where's the link? Others want to feel good too these days :D

I posted this in the "My Wish" thread... I'll just plop it down here again.

Remember who you were as a couple in the beginning? Remember the love and joy you held in your hands before this nightmare started? THAT is what matters. This process was destroying both of us and our relationship. Tonight we decided we'll no longer discuss it. We just do what is necessary and then go back to focusing on what we love about being together.

He reminded me of the first time we met. The airlines lost my luggage and I was delayed meeting him in the airport lobby. Very delayed. The airport had cleared out and it was very late at night. I had never been anywhere outside the US before, I was alone, and I was extremely intimidated by Egypt. I was in terror he would think I hadn't come and would leave. I would have no way to reach him and I would be alone. The woman at the counter was taking her sweet time and I began to cry. I explained and she ran to find Mohammed. I was right behind her. There he stood. The only person left in the darkened lobby. When he saw me... I can never forget it... his smile was more radiant then the sun. Everything in the world just ceased to exist except for him. The woman was explaining to him to wait for us but he never looked at her... his eyes never left me. He said he never heard a word she said. But I need to back up. He had been harassing the security guys to see if anyone was left from the flight in from Paris. They said no they're all gone now. He said he was sure I had stood him up and he was going to take his bag and go to Sharm El Sheikh to find work and to try to forget. He had shouldered his bag and was about to leave but decided to count to 20... and that's when he saw me. We came that close to never meeting... and never seeing each other again.

There's a lesson here for us. I told him tonight, now we need to count to 20 Mohammed. I could hear his smile in his words. "Yeah, honey... now we count to 20 together." So... whenever we can get the embassy to give him his appointment for his prints, he will give them and we will count to 20 together. Nothing else matters...

Thats so sweet. I'm too tired to respond, but just wanted you to know that your story touched me.

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

Funny thing I remember is the both of us kissing in the back seat of his friends car as we were leaving the airport. They were laughing at us, BUT if you know how Egypt is, that was a definate no, no. The second time I saw him in the airport Khallid darn near knocked down the policeman that was holding the crowd back. Khallid was jumping over the gate and running towards me! (F)

Jean,

I keep looking in this thread, but I don't know how to put into words our first meeting. It is so clear in my mind and is something I will always remember, but I have never been able to describe it to anyone else.

The plane ride over was unsettling to say the least. The passenger next to me (but on the other side of the aisle) fondled the flight attendant. I saw it. I assumed they knew each other. Next thing I knew, she was screaming at him at the top of her lungs. She leaves, comes back crying and screaming some more. They are exchanging words. Then, all these RAM employees are gathering around, and one man takes the lead role. They were speaking French, which I don't speak, but it was obvious the passenger was smooth talking his way out of it. The flight attendant is standing there crying, half the plane is standing and watching. I decide to speak up after conferring with the woman next to me. So, I chime in "he grabbed her". EVERYONE turns and looks at me. They question me and make me tell it to the guy directly. The guy accuses me of lying. I tell him he is lying, that he grabbed her inappropriately and I saw it. The employees all start thanking me, offering us (me and the woman next to me) champagne, anything we want - we ask for water, lol. The crazy thing - they didn't move us. So I had to sit next to this guy giving me the evil eye for the rest of the trip!!! So actually, this weighed a lot on my mind when I got off the plane. I was expecting a confrontation! I was thinking "oh great, I am meeting Abderrafie and he is going to end up fighting some psycho because I couldn't keep my mouth shut". Thankfully, we didn't run into the guy.

Oh ho ho Rebecca... lordy lordy lordy. What an experience! LOL Geez.

Amy... I never even got to see Egypt until the next morning! (Kinda the same story and the drive from the airport to Giza is a LONG one. Whew.) He escorted me to my hotel and said he would call me from the lobby in the morning. He did and said, "Good morning, honey! The pyraminds are waiting for you!" Gawd. But do you know... he was so worried about me being there alone, he slept under a bush in the garden of the hotel I was staying in only a few hours. He sat out front most of the night. He tidied up in the bathroom before he called me. It wasn't for lack of money... he was worried something would happen to me. He is probably the biggest worry wort I've ever known.

Jean,

Truely your "20 seconds" story has given me goosebumps! What a romantic moment for you two to treasure for the rest of your lives.

Wow! Our first meeting for Farid and I brings such a smile to my face. I had never been out of the country before. I was entertained on the flight in by another Moroccan man that has lived in the US for about 12 years. He shared his love story with me about him and his wife. He was very plesant. The guy to my right was nicely letting me know the most inappropriate things about his ####### and how long it's been since he's had sex with his wife..five years if I can remember correctly.LOL seriously I was ever so grateful to get off that plane. The nervousness sat in just before I saw him. I thought what if I don't recognize him in person, Or vice versa and we miss eachother LOL. All these thoughts were racing through my mind as I waited to collect my luggage. Finally after a long wait for my bags, I stepped out ...and there he was! jumping up and down and breaking through the barrier that security had created. We stood in front of the crowd and he was hugging me so tightly. I remember the smile on his face was so bright and we clung to eachother as we walked. We got to the elevator and he let me go for a moment to step away to push the button and that was the moment I knew this was my husband for all my life. This was my man! My Destiny! My Love.. I couldn't take my eyes off his face for the next 30 minutes. Just couldn't believe I was with him in person. Finally! LOL We had a wonderful first day, spent it getting to know him more and the family. I loved and still do love to watch him interact with people. He's wonderful in every way and I absolutely adore him.

Well our first meeting didn't involve airports and was rather "typical" I guess. I had gone to a discoteca with a girlfriend of mine, and we were dancing and having a good time, when I saw a very tall, very handsome guy in a leather jacket motioning to me. That's when Wadi introduced himself to me and asked me to dance. Too bad I can't remember what song we danced to (I'll have to ask him if he remembers!). We spent the rest of the night talking and dancing. I gave him my phone number, he called me the next day, and we've been together ever since! :D
