It's a typical strategy of Pike and A,J. It's almost as if they cannot have a discussion beyond x posts because you might catch them out for talking out of the azz. That is, by asking for more details. It's only a matter of time before the Aborigines are brought up.

Calm down, you look like a whiner.

It's fair to point these things out - you expect others to assimilate but don't believe that you should do it yourself.

And you have said that that racist extremists should be jailed but that its OK to participate in a race riot so long as the people taking the kicking deserve the beating.

Why is it whenever anyone points you out, they are apparently either angry or whining?

Riiight, because pledging an allegiance to a country is the same thing as integrating into a society. You also seem to blur the line between citizen and PR. Nevertheless, that was not the point. As you would know coming from probably the most unpatriotic country out there, a lot of other countries don't pledge anything, let alone daily. It's also why we understand and accept that perhaps someone else does something better than us that, God forbid we can learn from.

Rather, it's you who has shown anything goes, well as long as Caucasians don't do it or say it. You seem to be on some sort of crusade against the Caucasian guy - like yourself.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I presume you mean that the UK hasn't got many patriotic citizens compared with other nations but I don't know how you come to that conclusion.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Pledging allegiance is a symbol of wanting to integrate, not difficult to grasp. As for the rest, it's total cack.

Okay let me get this straight in pikeish mentality.

  • Covering all your face and body in a country where nobody does that = not a big deal - apparently still integrating
  • Not interacting with the citizens of a country = not a big deal - apparently still integrating
  • Not participating in any of the extracurricular activities or lifestyle of the country = not a big deal - apparently still integrating
  • Not caring about a democracy and the country's way of life = not a big deal - apparently still integrating
  • Not attempting to learn the language of a country you are residing in - even as a citizen = not a big deal - apparently still integrating
  • Not respecting a country's right to sovereignty, let alone their immigration laws = not a big deal - apparently still model immigrants

but

  • A PR not pledging to a country they merely have permission to reside in = refuses to integrate

A PR is simply required to follow the rule of law of the land. That it's folks.; thus the legal status as a LPR.

To this day, your failed logic never seizes to amuse me.

No it's not right at all. LPR means you have permission to live somewhere but you share none of the benefits or rights. As such, why would I pledge an allegiance?

I do not believe this is correct...

I think an LPR in the US has all the rights and benefits of a USC, EXCEPT for the right to hold an elected office or to vote...

The lengths you will go to put words in my mouth never ceases to amaze me. It certainly isn't amusing - it's stupid.

That's not the point. What I find inexcusable is to send kids wearing shirts with our nation's flag home while tolerating kids wearing flags of a neighboring country. There's no justification for that. Nor is there any justification for the display of our flag on our soil to raise any potential for violence. If there are indeed kids in our schools that are offended by our nation's flag, then perhaps they ought to go to schools on different soils where our flag isn't displayed.

Wanna see a Mexican flag in school? Try a school in Mexico.

I <3 you, lol.

Joking aside, best and most succinct post of this thread.

Here's an interesting piece from LA Times on Cinco de Mayo:

On Cinco de Mayo, a 'ridiculous' U.S. holiday

If you're in the United States, May 5 is an unofficial national holiday. Countless house parties, cultural festivals and bar specials will honor Cinco de Mayo, a Mexican holiday commemorating the Battle of Puebla in 1862, in which Mexican defenders beat back a powerful invading army from France. But if you're in Mexico, today is ... Que? It's a holiday?

Among the many contradictions and ironies of Mexican-U.S. relations is the curious case of Cinco de Mayo. It is a holiday in Mexico, yes, but not nearly as important to the national identity as say, Independence Day (Sept. 16). Yet Cinco de Mayo remains a stubbornly prevalent excuse to party in the U.S., perhaps, some argue, because it is more culturally "safe" than honoring Mexico's independence. The phenomenon is similar to the affection Americans have for St. Patrick's Day, where just about everyone is invited to don green and get in touch with their inner Irish.

Almost 140 years after the Battle of Puebla, Cinco de Mayo is so ingrained in the U.S. consciousness that even the White House celebrates it. And this year, so will the Phoenix Suns. The basketball pros will take the court in a Western Conference semifinal game against the San Antonio Spurs wearing "Los Suns" on their jerseys.

For his part, columnist and author Gustavo Arellano, has had it with Cinco de Mayo. Calling for an end to the "ridiculous" celebration in the U.S., Arellano writes at the OC Weekly:

Many people regard Cinco de Mayo as a celebration of resistance to imperial power. If only that were so. The events of that day didn't prohibit the French from turning Mexico into their Latin American playground. Mexicans taste the French legacy every morning in their pan dulce and tortas. Teenagers listlessly practice it in
quinceañera
waltzes. Men yelp their approval to our French conquerors whenever the mariachi violins begin their pizzicato coda.

Regardless of the specifics, the reality still remains LPR means legal resident; aka renter-esque. Had someone said you must pledge your allegiance to qualify for LPR, I wouldn't be here now. Why would a foreigner pledge to the US flag? It's a different story once someone become a citizen, as pledging is part of being American.

The lengths you will go to put words in my mouth never ceases to amaze me. It certainly isn't amusing - it's stupid.

No, I am simply setting the premise based on your previous postings.
