I was just wondering. I see in the timelines that a few are getting approved but now they are going back to Otober, November, and so on. When will the March go full steam ahead? I was just wondering. I see the k-1's are in March and we are just going at a snail's pace.

There have been a few people from March that have been approved but I think USCIS is going back to November & December for some reason. I guess to meet their 5 month processing timeline. March Filers are not going hear until late May into early June at the earliest.

I also sent in my application in March but my NOA1 is dated April 2nd. I am impatiently waiting as well but there is nothing we can do at this moment.

Every case waits its turn before adjudication begins. Petition adjudication is a multiple step process, so at any step in the process there may be delays causing wide variation in NOA1 to NOA2 timelines. Any March filed I-130 is probably still waiting in line with nothing having been done except to cash the check and see if the required forms and documents appear to be in the package and signed.

It's not so much a snail's pace as it is sitting still waiting for its turn to move to the next step.

We filed in March 2009 and were not approved until the end of July. It seems that March filers encounter slower processing times due to April being the start of work visa acceptances. Good luck to you!

i do understand the process of taking so long but it seems that all of a sudden we have had a drop off. there hasn't been many approvals this week. i would think if based on the past there would be at least 6-10 approvals a week. which will cut the amounts down tremendously. last year, i would understand they took longer because they didn't have the background checks as fast as now. So let's go here.

VJ members are a small subset of USCIS cases. I am personally aware of two approval notices this week but that has nothing to do with your case progress whatsoever.

It has literally been 5 months for you yesterday. If you haven't been calling USCIS a lot when it was 3 months, I suggest you call them up now. Get a sense of what is going on. You can always to face-to-face meeting now via InfoPass. But seriously, have you not called USCIS in recent weeks? Has your file been getting a lot of *touches* recently. If so, it might be nearing the completion as I would assume when a case is being finished up it will get touched a bunch of time. God knows. Good luck.

What exactly are work visas and how come they start approving them in April?

Junefirst - work visas are the H1 visas which they had stopped approving for a little bit of period due to recession here but have just started them again on April 1st, 2010. The visas are given to people who are migrating to US based on BIG companies wanting employees to help out.

Thanks johndoe...

I wish I would have known that, I would have made sure that our visa would have gotten turned in sooner!

Oh well, too late...

Do you know what much stopping the H1 visas affected the I-130 approval-rate?

Just wondering how long of a delay this will cost us.
