and yet another issue...

spent 1/2 hour filling in the online form, got to the part where you upload photo(which I'm not doing), went back a page and was unable to continue....the 'next page' hotlink isn't working.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Anyone else do the online form but not uploaded photo?

I didnt upload a photo because i didnt have any that fit what they said was needed. You have to still go through the steps of adding a photo tho or it wont let you continue to the page with your confermation number. Try agian. I had to fill it out four times before i tried just going through the steps of adding a picture and bam it worked after that.

Life is like a roller coaster. Hold on tight and enjoy the ride!

I too had the same experience with the DS-160 on-line form. It took several tries before it was ultimately accepted. I don't have specific advice for completing for form other than try a few times. However, I recently completed the K1-Visa process and the DS-160 was NOT required at the US Consulate in Vancouver. I was told that the form is required for other Visa types, but not for K1. This is contrary to the instructions provided on the web. I would advise contacting your office to determine if the form is needed or not. The DS-156 (2 copies), and DS-156K forms were needed, but not the DS-160. Again, as this is subject to change, you would need confirmation from the US Consulate.

make sure you use internet explorer. definately go through the whole photo thing from the test at the beginning to the end, make sure to save often. Most issues seem to be related to the photo. I didn't upload one or use one, but i did the test anyway and it worked for me. others have had many issues and most seemed resolved by doing the test photo etc.

some consulates still use the 160, as they have not completely switched over yet to just that form instead of the 156. Best to check the individual consulate site / email them to double check if they are not only using the 160.

Last i looked dos said they were phasing OUT the old forms and going ONLY with the 160.

from the dos website / canada consulate page :

Important notice

Beginning October 22, 2008, all applicants applying for nonimmigrant visas in Montreal and Vancouver must use the new DS-160 application form, which is accessible on https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/.

they did ask me for the printed pages at the interview if i recall. but she said the photo was not required.

Thanks all, I'll try again.

So did you guys submit a photo with the forms you mailed back? Kinda think we just have to bring it with us to the interview but as usual, I'm confused! :)

Thanks all...finally, finally managed to submit the DS160...kept freezing, kick me back to other pages. Bizarre. As annoying as it is you just have to keep trying.

QUESTION - My fiance filled the DS-160 with a JPG photo, she did print everything including confirmation page and she mailed it all back to the montreal office(packet3). Curious to know if she will need copies of what she sent to them including confirmation number? what if she doesn't have copies of the confirmation number even though it was included in the packet 3?

should she fill out another DS-160 ?

If she sent it in, it's in her file, which means they'll have it in front of them at the interview. You should be OK. Though in general, you should keep two copies of anything you ever send USCIS or a Consulate.

She has copies of everything else except for the DS-160 Confirmation number. She has the DS-160 form printed out...just forgot to print out that confirmation number yikes!! I'm worried..just a bit about that copy of confirmation letter.

p3 and p4 letter state you are suposed to have that confirmation number and mail a copy to them. they ask you for it at the interview. there should have been an option at the end to email and print it. not sure if you can go back in to the saved one and reprint it. if you have to redo it there is no harm. many have had to redo it with no problems after the 2nd one.
