My dad went off to the war in 1939 and got back from Burma in 1946. He and the rest of the troops had had it with Churchill and all the war mongering. Churchill wanted to attack Russia etc etc in 1945 like it was Omdurman again or Gallipoli again or Dublin again.

The troops said enough to all that stuff and voted in a socialist government by a huge majority and that's the only way we got 100% free health care on demand.

Then Japan and Germany got it but the US still hasn't got it. Funny old world.

I know you want a gun cupboard in there but I would prefer that to be turned into a small library with comfy leather chair, ta muchly. I believe Margo would approve of that.

Here's another irritating thing: I showed him a lovely top I am thinking of buying. He told me it looked like something Margo Leadbetter from The Good Life would wear.

Mine got me a birthday card that on the front exclaims it is no ordinary birthday card. When you open it up there are 4 little cardboard cards glued inside.. one for anniversary, another for valentine's, etc.

Luckily last weekend he gave me the first birthday present any SO has ever bought me. If he missed this year like the last two I would have beat him. He doesn't have the excuse of distance anymore.

I prefer punching men in the neck. I don't like guns. My brother keeps mine locked up in his safe because I refuse to have them in the house.

Instead, I have a novelty bachelorette gift I got from my bestfriend that is more effective at home security. I'm sure no one would like to be hit with it. It's less likely to be stolen OR touched during a break in anyways.

Some nights I used to just talk to old Charley Chantry who made the tea and biscuits. He had been in the first world war at Passchendaele and told me all about it and observers jumping out of flaming ballon baskets. I used to go home and realise I hadn't fired a shot -just listened for 3 hours. It's a social thing as much as a toys thing.

We were talking about him taking a job (finally he has a job) and how anything that is not him acting full time means he is a failure. It's just ridiculous. I said he wasn't a failure, and he told me he was, and I raised my voice a little and said "YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE!" The he told me to go f^ck myself and he wouldn't have me raise my voice to him and out he went.

So sick of this.

We just had a very long and considered talk and all is well because he agrees with everything I had to say.
