I'm a US citizen that filed a petition for both of my parents. Unfortunately my mom's petition was lost and later found. In the process my dad's petition moved forward and he is already here in the US. My mom had her long waited interview today at the embassy and she was told to bring my original birth certificate. Initially they had accepted a certified copy that the issuing government had issued but now they said she has to bring the original one that was issued about thirty years ago to prove she is my mom. So she has to go look for it its there somewhere. My main concern is that is it possible for a visa to be denied to a parent of a US citezen? my mom said they were giving her a hard time.

I would say they are - what a bunch of idiots. Was not the same birth certificate used to prove your father was your father?

Sometimes I'd like to take my size 13 and kick these clowns right in the a*s.

Yes it is possible but since your father was already approved I suspect some CO just has a bug up his butt for some reason. Sorry to hear about the troubles.

I sure hope she finds it and will say a prayer for you all tonight!
