With the email you got, it looks like they are not clear on if you want electronic or paper processing, which makes no sense blink.gif. Good luck!

Another thought...did you follow Darnell's guide on how to set up the Opt In email? Maybe something was missing from it that they wanted?

This is something new. You should confirm, via email.

It also smells like the OPT IN email might not have been set up properly, or the DS-3032 was omitted.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

What does "we aren't in the system" mean - that you don't show as being set up for EP, or that they can not find your case in the system? Or something else?

remember - opting in and paying online are parallel processes.

as to 'slowing things down' - ye gods - March and April sucked, a lot, as was some slowdown at NVC, things seemingly lost, ppl re-submitting OPT INs, I-864s, DS-230s because of this slowdown.

I look at it this way -

YOU GOT SOMETHING BACK via email once you sent off yer OPT IN email . This is sorta rare.

At this point, I'd suggest to keep paying online at the online payment portal. IF YOU DID NOT GET the AOS FEE BILL via email - call NVC, get a Human, and ask for AOS FEE BILL TO BE SENT VIA EMAIL today - at least you can 'keep on track' with the payment portal.

Ultimately - when/if the OPT IN is accepted, the IV fee bill bill show up 'to be paid'.

Good Luck !

This is why I'm thoroughly baffled now. Maybe it doesn't take much ... due to being stressed by this.

This is a huge red flag for me. Have you a) received your MTL# through the AVR system and b) given your email addresses to an operator?

A new Affidavit of Support/DS-230 form should be completed 2 different things

A new Affidavit of Support/DS-230 form should be completed - 2 different things.

Affadavit of Support = I-864 form = AOS Fee Bill

Immigrant Visa Application = DS-230 form = IV fee bill.

In my mind, the USC has not indicated how to process the case.

He/She should do that, soonish.

reread my prior post about OPT IN email formatting - IMO - somethings wonky on that OPT IN email. REVIEW the email that was SENT IN FOR OPT IN, compare it to the template on the NVC Electronic Processing Wiki Page.

and (gasp)

FWIW - a successful 'opt in' can take anywhere from 1 to 14 days on turn-around time from 'OPT IN email submittal' to 'EP Enrollment email recvd' . IMO - you've not gotten the 'successful OPT IN' email, at all.

not in the system at NVC? wth?

sorry - somethings really wonky -

you can't get into the online payment portal at all, without a MTL # and an IIN (my apologies for being slow on yer casefile status, btw)

Suggest USC Spouse call back, inquire for a) casefile status and then

INQUIRE for b) OPT IN status (not the same thing)

If the Tele-Operator seems confused, ask for Supervisor.

OTOH - maybe these emails you are getting, are part of some slowed up batch processing on emails, and its just catching up?

jadejewel - OK - you handled stuff in March. IMO - NVC EP for March was a quaqmire - strongly suggest you send in the OPT IN email again (this will give NVC a definitive answer on how to process yer case).

Good Luck !

I'm going to ask him to call in again and do what you expressed Darnell. We have our MTL number, we have paid the bills and they have our completed forms.

This is why these emails are so confusing.

If I send anything else who knows what they'll do with it. I'll keep you posted as i sure don't want anyone else going through this!

Ours has been the SLOWEST JOURNEY it seems. This goes back to Sept filing at USCIS California.

Thanks for everyone's help,

I got clarity on my confusion after receiving a variety of emails and I was starting to pull out my hair.

Here is what I learned.

1) Because we were advised on VJ to send the DS3032 with the OPTIN, I was confused by them taking so long confirming me then asking for the Ds3032 when I sent it. In fact I ended up sending the OPTIN and DS3032 several times. But I didn't NEED to - in fact the email is standard, it's not necessarily an autoresponse but if you are in EP, you will receive this whether you sent this in or not

2) Same holds true for I864 and DS230 - each time, I got an email requesting those documents and so I resent them but was getting ticked that something was going wrong blah blah. NOTHING was going wrong..

The issue is the advise all of us got on VJ verses the emails from NVC - in other words, those before us gave helpful advice and said sent in the DS3032 WITH the OPTIN and don't wait for NVC, plus send in the I 864 immediately after paying the AOS bill and the same for sending the DS230 after paying the IV bill. So, we did just that but then got these confusing emails that makes us think there was a problem. Nope. Those emails come to you regardless because we are into electronic processing. The normal route is to optin in to EP then wait for the email from NVC then send the DS3032 - we didnt' so we end up getting the where's your DS3032 email from NVC. Same for all the others.

So the long and short is either resend everything or disregard those emails because NVC does have the electronic submissions, those emails are standard in case you haven't submitted; so for those of us that do it early before the NVC emails, don't worry because NVC has them.

What would actuallly go a long way is for NVC to send emails confirming the documents we send in - that way we could sit back and think ok all is well in the valley.

You can always call NVC and speak with an operator to get clarity on this, plus to ensure all the documents have been received. Again the emails sent from NVC cause the most confusion but once you get it, you get it.

They could improve the system/process but I'll tell ya, I got through NVC in 24 days because of EP despite my rantings and despite my concern that I was having to resend everything, thinking there was a problem when, in fact, none existed. :bonk:

Good luck
