Interesting little story all recorded Here.

US Border Agent states he "can do anything" and people crossing the border have to obey all his commands. He also states he stops about three terrorist per day trying to cross the US/Canadian border.

Unnecessary situation.

I have been asked the most stupidest questions when crossing the border. All you have to do is answer them.

Getting loud & questioning THEM does not help & makes things worse.

The guy should've kept his mouth shut, no matter how ridiculous border agents can be.

I have a couple of questions on this one. First off, how did he happen to be recording the conversation, from beginning to end? That seems a little suspicious, especially coupled with my second question - who in their right mind thinks that reacting verbally aggressive and confrontational is the appropriate response to any law enforcement, especially border guards? Of COURSE you are going to be dealt with, at the very least to teach you a lesson about respect for authority.

Epic fail for this couple. I think they set this up knowing exactly what was going to happen.

Dude is a douche bag. Tony and I agree this was obviously set up. The guy is acting suspiciously. I don't know anyone what would get SO angry when asked "what shops are you going to?". He's a moron and deserved to be detained.

I heard this a few days ago. I think it may also be posted on youtube.

This kid was being interviewed by a US federal law enforcement officer, and he argued with him like he was talking to his parents. Bad idea.

I suspect he recorded everything on his cell phone, and he started recording as soon as he arrived at the border checkpoint. Who would do this unless they were expecting a confrontation?

Some people are so ignorant. Like his law enforcement friends in Canada would take being spoken to like that by someone they pulled over. It's not to hard to answer there questions. Sure they are crazy questions but you answer them.

To be recorded the whole way, seems like it was definately set up.

US Border Agent states he "can do anything" and people crossing the border have to obey all his commands. He also states he stops about three terrorist per day trying to cross the US/Canadian border.

I'm all in favor of asking questions, especially asking for a valid ID. However, the manner in which this

"interrogation" was conducted was totally overboard.

Despite his pleas, the man and his wife are thrown in jail, at which point the audio ends.

Let us not forget that the United States does not stand alone in employing semi-retarded jackbooted goons who specialize in harassing innocent people to enforce security at its borders.

The asking of the questions is not the issue, it's the manner in which they were asked as well

as the manner in which the responses of the couple were interpreted.

Maybe there should be a disclaimer at the border:

"Sarcasm, real or unintentional will be deal with by means of deadly force."

biggrin.gifwhistling.gif Have a nice day!

I remember being almost crushed to death as a spectator in the NYC Halloween parade back in 2006.

The only way out of a heavily barricaded street corner resulted in a police checkpoint which demanded

that I go back into the melee (the opposite direction from the closest train station that would bring me

home). In fact, many people were freely passing past these clowns in the direction opposite mine, so

it wasn't that the area I was going to was dangerous as a crowd of people were there already.

When I tried to explain that the way in front of me was clear and uncrowded but where I had come

from was a bee's nest, they threatened to declare me insane and have me thrown in Bellvue for

psychiatric examination. If it's the word of 2-3 cops against mine, they would probably be able to

come up with a lie so outrageous but swear up & down that I was guilty of whatever they said.

The police have an important and critical function in keeping us safe, but unfortunately some of them abuse it.

To ensure continued respect for authority, those empowered to hold it should act reasonably.

Some people interpreted some of my previous comments as approving unfettered police action

when I approved their taking action against those who refused to identify themselves when

completely covering their face. The police don't cover their faces so the same should be expected

of the public.

Could you imagine people entering the country with bags over their heads during World War II and

claiming some sort of civil or religious wrong when asked to remove them? This war may be undeclared

but by words and deeds our President has correctly acknowleged that one exists, even at the risk of

sounding like his predecessor.

I think the police may have been provoked but they should know the difference between sarcasm and

a possible terrorist threat. The counter-provocation reminds me of these words: dumb and dumber.

I would have just stopped arguing with them and politely searched their persons & vehicle for 5 hours

and you'd bet they would learn to deal with the questions on their next trip out. Their smart-#### friends

would also be forewarned as well.

By being polite but firm they would come out heroes instead of idiots.

A rectal examination sounds in order.
