Hi Jen and Geert!!

I posted yesterday but have no idea where it went!! LOL Just wanted to catch up to you all..I just got back from Chile and now I will be staying put until all his papers are ready and will go back for the interview in Chile. I got the choice of agent signed and when it's time I will send it from here the US (because the mail in Chile is horrible) I think I am allowed to do that, please correct me if I am wrong. Still waiting for NOA-2 very patiently, at times! LOL.

I cant' wait to start hearing news of NOA-2's for all of us May filers!! and hopefully by then there wont be any backlog!! Jen thanks for the list you provided it looks pretty good and helpful. Hope all of you are enjoying the summer!

Regards,

Emily

As long as your hubby signed it I don't see why you can't mail it from your address, I plan to have my hubby mail me the signed ds-230 as well as choice of agent early since I wanted to mail them off from here asap I'm also a bit more organized with it than he is lol.

I'm enjoying the summer the best I can, my job has been a 40hr a week schedual it's wearing on me a bit, but my motivation is to have the money for immigration and a nice vacation when I get to visit hubby come interview time, I wish it wasn't so expensive

hey Friends,

I filed i130 in may. Got NOA1 in may 4th and my service center is California.Waiting for NOA2 now. is there anybody who got NOA2 by filing in may. Thanks for your reply in advance

If you got your NOA1 on may 4th (which was when I mailed off my I-130 =) I think that makes you an april filer I think, but either way your more than welcome to post here and join in the discussion, welcome :star:

No one in May has received an NOA2 as of yet, they are just finishing up with march and going into april with approvals so depending on how fast they process we still have some more waiting to do.

Best wishes on your journey~

Hi J & G !

* I-864 : $ 88

* DS-230 : $380

What Fees Can I Expect?

Fees are charged for the following services:

• Filing an immigrant Petition for Alien Relative, Form I-130

• Processing an immigrant visa application, Form DS-230

• Reviewing an I-864, Affidavit of Support (for petitions filed in the United States)

• Medical examination (costs vary from place to place)

• Fingerprinting fees, if applicable

• Other costs may include: translations; photocopying charges; fees for obtaining the documents you need for the immigrant visa application (such as passport, police certificates, birth certificates, etc.); and travel expenses to go to the embassy or consulate for the interview. Costs vary from country to country and case to case.

Source: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2991.html

Important Notice - New Immigrant Application Fees: Immigrant visa application processing fees and other immigrant visa services fees changed on July 13, 2010, and immigrant visa application processing fees are now tiered. (There is no longer one single visa application fee for all immigrant categories.) See the Press Release. Applicants will have to pay the full fees in effect on the day they apply, with the exception of applicants whose fees are collected by the National Visa Center (NVC). Applicants whose fees are collected by NVC, both prior to and after July 13, 2010, will be required to pay only the fees in effect on the day they are billed. Applicants billed by NVC at the current rate prior to July 13, 2010 will not be required to pay the difference between the current and new fees. (Review additional information, including a cost of service study on the www.Regulations.gov website.)

Source: http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1263.html#perm(If you scroll down on the webpage there’s a list of new fees I had put USCIS on checklist, but it's actually NVC where people need to check fee's)

Definitely a little confusing so it's best that people can go check this to see the difference =)

Who knows what MI means in Choice of Agent? I am not familiar with this... pls help.

MI if your refering to the top of the page in choice of agent is an abbreviation for "Middle Initial" so if the beneficiary has a middle name place the first Letter of their middle name there, if they don't have a middle name leave it blank.

You can place yourself as agent (meaning you'll receive all the paper work and bills at your address for NVC buisness, unless you have an attorney in which you use their name, but I'm guessing a lot of us are doing this ourselves?

hope this helps =)

OK, now that I am all confused. What is the DS-230 fee?

Thanks for reposting the checklists

I can understand the confusion, I want to understand it as best as possible also and help others with what I do understand.

We all payed the $355 for the I-130 this is a separate processing fee just to petition and see if we qualify for an Immigrant visa which went to USCIS.

USCIS is separate from the NVC they are two different entities although they work together towards immigration services.

DS-230 Immigrant visa and alien registration also has a processing fee, your Immigrant visa will be the "Green Card".

Once your I-130 is approved and has been sent from USCIS to the NVC, NVC will send you an invoice/bill for the DS-230 and the I-864 Affidavt of Support (if you filed the I-130 in the USA there is a processing fee for I-864) these forms are listed on my NVC checklist.

DS-3032 Choice of Address and Agent is just a form to let the NVC know what address they will be sending you the bills/paperwork too there is no fee for DS-3032.

Fee's Table link:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1263.html#perm

Not sure if you understood all the forms and fee's needed but just thought I'd post some quick info on it. Hope this helps.

good luck :star:

Effective July 13, 2010, The immigrant visa (IV) application fee will be:

$330 for immediate relative and family preference cases (processed on the basis of an I-130, I-600 or I-800 petition),

$720 for employment-based cases (processed on the basis of an I-140 petition), and

$305 for other cases (special IVs, Diversity Visas (DVs), self-petitioned cases, and all other IVs).

*

The IV security surcharge - will increase from $45 to $74.

*

Therefore, the new total for immediate relative and family preference cases will be $404 ($330 application fee + $74 security surcharge). The new total for employment-based cases will be $794 ($720 application fee + $74 security surcharge).

*

The Diversity Visa (lottery) fee (which is charged in addition to the application processing fee and security surcharge) will change from $375 to $440.

*

The fee for determining returning resident status is decreasing from $400 to $380.

I found this information in my consulate, so I think that the fee varies according to the country, although, many marchers who have been approved have discussed the fees and I have seen the 404 bucks, :)
