Hey everyone just want to say first I'm sorry I didn't post anything sooner we've been so busy this week and it's been going by fast, we are just enjoying each others company after being apart for so long!

The interview went really well I think here's a recap

We got there around 2 hours early and went to a bistro a block over to rest a bit since it was cold and raining outside, we got some soup for lunch and talked a bit about the paperwork and feeling a little nervous, but we were both pretty confident and reassuring each other that we'd do fine.

We left the restaurant about 20 min before the 1:30 interview time and waited at the gate, there were already several people there also waiting for security to let us in, they came exactly at 1:30 to open the gate. The security let those without electronic devices go first in line (me and Geert already knew about this and left everything electronic behind except our passports and paperwork.) We had an umbrella which they put aside for us to pick up later.

When we walked inside we also had to walk through a metal detector before getting into the office, but got through it quickly enough. When we finally got inside they told us to go to window number 6, we waited in line a few people were ahead of us. When we got to the window there was a nice lady who we handed Geerts passport and interview letter over to. She also gave us our original documents and medical exam stuff (I think it included the x-ray on CD also), she was looking at our paper work that was sent by NVC saying that it looked like everything was in order (complete) we tried to hand her 2 more passport photos, but she said they had enough =). She also had Geert sign the II part of the DS230 sworn statement and took his fingerprints on the bio-scan. After that she told us to go sit down and wait till we were called by the consular officer.

We waited awhile it was a bit too warm in the consulate so we actually sat by the door to catch a breeze with people coming in lol, they had a beverage machine too so we got some water. I think we waited a little over an hour when they finally called Geert's last name we got up together and walked up to the window number 7. Our consular officer swore us both in to conduct the interview, and surprisingly only asked a small amount of questions we even saw a red stamp of pre-approval on the large stack of paper work sent from NVC (I think that was the first good sign). Some of the questions asked was

Do you have any children?

Have either of you ever been arrested?

Where did you meet? (he asked a bit more in detail about this I offered to show him our game accounts that we played but he said no that was fine, we told him the name of the game Ragnarok Online and that it was a multi-player game etc, that we had been both playing the game for several years..)

He asked my husbands last visit to the U.S.?

These were pretty much the main questions he asked and we saw him flipping quickly through the paperwork (probably just to reaffirm everything, I could even see copies of bonafides in the stack of papers.)

We didn't have to grab a single paper from all the stuff we brought which was fine with me it was mostly just copies of everything and some new bonafides in case something had been lost, so I guess we gave enough evidence from front loading the petition

which I feel good about, we were there around 3 hours in total I think.

The Consular officer said everything looked fine and that if there was any problems that they would call us and that the papers should arrive within 2 weeks , (we found out from Geerts parents that they already arrived at his house on Tuesday so that was quick.)

After that we immediately left to go back home and got ready for our valentines dinner date, it was a lot to celebrate =)

Anyways I hope everyone else who's interview came up was a successful one and I wish everyone else the best of luck, we are going to enjoy the rest of our vacation before I have to go home unfortunately Geert can't come with me yet he still has to finish packing his things there's a lot to finalize before his final move to the states, so hopefully he'll be in the U.S. before the end of March =).

Hi everyone, My wife had her interview and they gave her a white slip saying they wanted to see her old passport to see her arrival/departure stamps to japan when she worked there... thats it, ... they didnt say pass or fail they said everything else looks good just want to see the old passport... they gave her a paper to send the old passport to 2GO courier service to send to the embassy... they kept all her documents and new passport.... so , from what i've been told, as soon as they see the old passport, they will issue the visa... so , i think we are approved after they look at the old visa... any reply is appreciated...

she has already sent the old visa to the embassy.. they delivered it a few minutes ago ... so now.........wait wait wait

Will do , thanks everyone. i was kinda stressed about the yes or no thing until my wifey told me additional info about her interview... She said AFTER the interview with the CO , he told her to go back outside and wait for her number to be called..... she said she filled out a white form with her personal info( name ,address , phone# ...) for delivery of her visa... i didnt know that info at first till this morning when we talked in more detail about the interview ... ....So... i think we are ok ..

Congrats it sounds like it was successful interview which counts the most, and from what I've read here on VJ it's a good sign when they take your passport because they need it to stamp the visa in there~! I think they usually don't say your approved right there at the interview and just say some usual protocol phrases like "everything looks good" or "we'll call you if we need anything else" etc..

“Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices in truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (Corinthians 13:4-7)

Thanks Jen , and congrats to you too ... i have said so many times ... "If we can get through this, then nothing's impossible" ....

i dont mind the extra wait NOW, cause her sister is visiting next month and she wanted to see her before she left to come here.. so its ok , the visa will arrive in perfect timing to get her on the plane march 14 or so ..

Oh BTW Jen , Dont forget to inform the people at the POE that you have been married more than 2 years so you will get the IR1 ... if not then they will put Gert as a CR1.. just a reminder . .... Wayne
