Expired fingerprints two months after they were taken

We just received a notice that my wife's fingerprints need to be taken because the one's on file had expired. The thing is, she had them retaken on 2/26, one month after we filed for removal of conditions. They obviously aren't expired, what is the real message here? Did they take bad fingerprints, did they lose them, is it just an errant notice? Her file was touched after the first biometric appointment, and then again on 3/1, nothing since. What gives?

Several people have mentioned here on VJ that they had to take the biometrics twice, and if my memory serves me correctly now, I beleive there was an individual that took it three times.

In my opinion, the reason they specified could be wrong but it is commonly known that some people have smaller/thinner/weaker/lighter friction ridges on their fingers, rendering the prints useless for FBI and a second attempt to obtain the finger prints is sent out.

Is this notice a new appointment letter? If so, just go and take them again.

I'd ask when you go back, but perhaps they lost them - or didn't realize that one of them was messed up when they took the set on 2/26.

Make sure your wife's hands are well cleaned, dry, and she doesn't use any hand lotion the day the fingerprints will be taken. My wife had that problem at the embassy when she got called back to redo hers after using hand lotion the first time. It may be something else, but this is worthy of note.

Thanks much for all the replies. I guess it makes sense if the fingerprints weren't taken properly/didn't take. It's just odd that the letter says that they expired. Much obliged.

I just had my biometrics taken this morning, and several fingers needed to be done 3-4 times, they still weren't great scans according to the clerk. My fingerprints are supposedly worn away in places :)
