CFO before interview

I've been told that it is recommended to take everything that is in the Interview package. I have heard that they will ask for original copies of divorce decrees, pictures, birth certificates, all that jazz. I agree it's a load of #######. How could a Filipino be good enough to enter the US on a visa, but NOT good enough to leave the Philippines...Makes no sense. Just one more way of the Filipino Government to get it's hands in your pockets before their citizens leave that messed up country.

And, don't be surprised if you'll be asked for your Cenomar and your husband's Legal Capacity to Marry, even if they know that you are already married they're still gonna ask for these anyway. It's ridiculous!

True! It's insane. We did not submit the documents as we insisted that we are already married.

How could a Filipino be good enough to enter the US on a visa, but NOT good enough to leave the Philippines...Makes no sense.

The US Embassy does not apply all of the laws of the Philippines when issuing a visa and the CFO and our Immigration is the last line of defense, so to speak. As an example, the US Embassy will issue a K1 visa to a 17-year old Filipina (and this has happened in the past) but according to Philippine laws, a 17-year old cannot marry even if she has parental consent. In this case, the CFO will not issue the CFO certificate or stamp until the girl reaches 18.

But I have to agree that this service should be free of charge or if we have to pay a fee, it should be very minimal and the requirements, not as rigorous.

Just one more way of the Filipino Government to get it's hands in your pockets before their citizens leave that messed up country.

Not a nice thing to say about my country but the same can be said about America, too.

You have me there. I hope that the elections next week straighten things out in the Philippines. It's very similar to the States. It will take decades of recovery to repair the undoings of the past 8-10 years...No offense intended, as I plan on retiring to the Philippines in the not so near future.

you mind telling me exactly what document she brought with her so I can get Rose to start collecting all of this.....tnx

She had all the information with her that she'll be taking to the interview teamster. I didn't get to find out a lot from her, been long days there, but I don't think she was even asked for much. Also, when she got to the medical yesterday, all of the passport photos we had taken there for this process, were unacceptable to St. Lukes. They wanted 2x2 passport style photos - wait, wut?? THAT'S WHAT SHE HAD :rofl: We had photos done at a professional place that does photos for immigration, white background, hair off the ears, black suit jacket, etc. Luckily there's a place right there close where she could go get "the right one" done quickly. Oh, and yes it's the same photo that's on her NBI, PCC and Passport :blink:

Two (2) valid identification cards (IDs) with photograph;

Duly completed guidance and counseling form;

If married, certified true copy and photocopy of marriage contract on security paper from the National Statistics Office, or Local Civil Registry Offices; or original and photocopy of marriage contract duly authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/ Consulate (if married abroad)

Other documents as may be required by the counselors; and

Payment of P250.00 counseling fee.

This is all that the CFO website says to bring, but the "other documents as may be required is where they get you...

If you would have read my later post, it wasn't meant as an insult. If I thought so, I wouldn't have married a Filipina, nor would I plan on living there after my retirement. As I stated, I meant no offense, and I hope that your compatriots choose a wise selection for the next President.

St Luke's, and the Embassy require US style passport photos. Similar, but different....I'm glad that I have used this website, so that I can inform my wife to do it right the first time.

See, I thought we did too. That's what we get for thinking..hahha They said the photos weren't exactly the right size yet she said what she got was nearly identical. We got them done there in the Phils, to immigration specs. I saw the lady using the guidelines from the government to double check the photo requirements. It's all good now, just crazy the little things that come outta no where.

Isn't this a bunch of #######, doing the medical and CFO but yet a person applying for a US TOURIST VISA does not have to do any of this. My bro had his GF apply for a US TOURIST VISA then married her here and applied for a AOS. I should of taken that route.

Getting that tourist visa is a ####### shoot though teamster. Then it costs a ton to adjust, and it's a long time before she can go home if she needs too. This is a long hard process, but you're doing it the right way :thumbs:

Only thing wrong is that you face a big chance of getting the adjustment denied... cuz you have to rope the USCIS into believing that she didn't come here with the intent to marry on a tourist Visa.

Thats what most people think that you would be denied the AOS, but you will be surprised into how many people get the AOS approved.
