Annoyingly Trivial Questions... !

1) I got passport pictures taken, the pictures themselves are 2x2 as required, but they are both printed on one piece of photo paper that is probably 4x6... should I cut them?

2) "Copy of Birth Certificate"... Will my scanner/copier be okay or do I need to send a certified copy of it?

- if I send that, should I not send copies of my passport?

That's all I can think of for now, but I'm sure there will be more!

Thanks for all of your help!!

Copies. Unless specifically required that an original document be filed with an application or petition, an ordinary legible photocopy may be submitted. Original documents submitted when not required will remain a part of the record, even if the submission was not required.

Oops! Sorry.. I hadn't gotten that far in my homework yet.. lol

The birth certificate itself (what you call the original) should be a certified version meaning a raised stamp or seal on the paper. Call that the original. Then make a copy from your copier and send the copy of the Certified Birth certificate. DO not use the short form Birth Certificate (must have parents' names, etc...). Yes cut the pictures yourself.

Your fiance will need this Original version and another copy for the interview in Caracas or wherever. They probably will not ask for the Original BC but they can.

In the instructions, it says to make a front and back copy of my birth certificate... there's not really anything on the back of my birth certificate.. just VR-111 rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreally tiny in the very bottom lefthand corner.. should there be something more significant on the back of my birth certificate? Should I write some kind of note that it is the back of my birth certificate? From first glance, it looks like I just included a blanke page... helpsmilie.gif

The instructions do say that don't they. I remember I was confused about that as well as I have nothing on the back of my original birth certificate. I did not include a photocopied page of the back of my birth certificate and I had zero problems. If there isn't anything on the back don't bother it will just confuse the USCIS and you don't want to do that lol

is in case if the BC had 2 leaves (long version) most of the BC have all information in front , so you don't need to make a back copy

The people who did your passport photos should have cut them for you and then provided them to you in a booklet. You might want to take the sheet you have back and ask them to cut them per the specifications required.

Though if they're outlined so you can tell where the 2x2 sections are I don't see any reason why you can't cut them yourself.

YYYYYeah! I definitely do NOT recommend CVS for getting passport pics taken!

Hi Jen, how are you doing.

Oddly enough, I know a couple of people posted if the back of the Birth Certificate is blank do not copy that and send it in. They were approved so it is OK. I do not wish to be contrary or start an argument. But I look at everything very literally. You might have a different Service Center, you very likely will have a different adjudicator at USCIS.

I believe to follow the directions and give them EVERYTHING they ask for and usually give them MORE than they ask for. You cannot get an RFE for providing a blank page of the BACK of your birth certificate. You can get an RFE for NOT providing a copy of the blank page on the back of the birth certificate. I submitted a copy of front and back of my passport including the BLANK back page and was also approved. I did not receive an RFE for sending in a copy of a blank back page.

Good luck.

In Australia our birth certificates DO have something on the back. And if I change my name (by legal name change, not by marriage) they will reissue me a birth certificate and on the back my NEW name will be there. So it makes sense to me. Personally I double-sided my photocopies so it looked like the original. Better they know nothings there than wonder where the missing page is.

Ohh okay. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something! Thanks :)

Here's a trivial q...instead of making 1000 different topics for each question, did you ever think to use the search button, read the stickies, check the wiki?

I'm not trying to sound snarky, but when half the topics on the front page are yours, it does make one wonder.

Cute. Half the topics were mine because I happened to go through my managed topics in one sitting. I have used the search buttons, read the stickies, and have added on to topics with questions similar to mine.
