Too funny. The Neo Cons have been trying everything to get Trey Grayson elected here. Everyone from Cheney on down has endorsed Grayson and even have huge fund raisers for the guy and still can't figure out why Rand Paul is still destroying him in the polls. Recently they even tried to say he had the same kooky ideas as his Dad (He does) hoping that would hurt but it didn't. All the Neocons in the Senate will never welcome him if he wins. I am loving how clueless they are.

They're politicians. Clueless isn't just a movie to them. ;)

There should be more than two major parties anyway.

It's ridiculous to think two parties try to represent the views of 309 million.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Especially when they can't be bothered to represent anyone, because they're too busy looking out for themselves.

"You know that's right" - ghetto slang.

The US needs at least 10 major parties. I know for myself, my views are conservative, yet federalist (strong government) and strong country in nature. As such, I fit in no US party.

I am seeing that.whistling.gif

It is funny though. They are sending all the old time so called conservatives down and endorsing Grayson. Saying everything false under the sun to try to discredit him. Huge fundraisers so the guy can plaster the airwaves. And they are scratching their head saying, "why?"

What is real funny to me is last election the media made Ron Paul and everyone thinks Ron Paul is a kook and here is his son with the same views beotch slapping and going to win the Senate seat. Other Senators have said that if he does get elected and comes there with those ideas he will be useless as they will ostracize him. He will never vote for any Socialist program so they can't hope he will go to their side. Let Kentucky is going for him anyway in a big way.good.gif

See: Duverger's law

The two major parties can and do usurp the principles of any minor party that appears. As an example the Socialists pretty much took over the green parties principles making the green party no longer needed. The Neocons are now trying to usurp the Tax party as they have the constitution party and freedom party. There are many times when this has happened in the past also. Also the two party system here has made laws that pretty much entrenches them to be placed on the ballots, such as any new party has to turn in to the Secretary of states office petitions with a certain percentage of registered voters that voted in the last election by certain dates. Also the media themselves by having the televised debates only invite the two major party candidates even though this changes rarely when they had Perot join in once years ago when he tried to start a party that eventually the Neocons usurped.

It is very hard to get on ballots because it takes time for the masses to organize their gripes and funnel this into organizations that can make a difference into parties and then do the things needed to be placed on ballots by the time elections come around. All the while the two majors are trying to usurp the principles and become their champions. All the while the cozy relationships that the media have with the politicos start to come into play by spreading the negatives of the new party and extolling the positives of the majors.
