Foreign Education

My wife has a Bachelor of Science degree in the philippines. I am just wondering if we did a full evaluation with ECE if she would be able to use that degree to get a job here in the state of Kentucky ?

It depends on the degree and job she trying to get. What did she get her degree in and what kind of job is she looking to get?

You would most likely only need to get the transcripts evaluated for a job that requires a license,,, like nursing,, or perhaps to pursue a higher degree. Most employers are oblivious to the source of a degree. Usually employers won't even ask for proof of the education put on your job application. Most foreigners I have worked with and/or hired just put the place and type of eduction... And provide the transcripts or degree if asked.

In the case of my wife she is a BSN and needed her transcripts evaluated for the Texas Board of Nursing.

Note: In our case her transcripts had to be evaluated by one of the three acceptable by Texas... Not all evaluation

services are acceptable for all purposes.

depends on the degree (course) and school. if she intends to use that degree for a job, she does need to have it evaluated by ece or other orgs/assn. if not, no need to spend (coz it' a bit expensive, for me anyway, hehe)

Her field of study was Chemical Engineering. Is the ECE the best way to go ? or should we consider another organization ? Her purpose is to maybe use it to get a certain job and to also further her education.

for masters and PhD... she should take GRE and TEOFL.
