Got my green card yesterday! Now to start the insane paperworking of everything else... :lol:

Congrats!!! it's nice to finally have it in your hands isn't it?

We went to the SSA office today to change my name :)

It was really easy. Just showed the new green card and our marriage cert, and that was it!

Can't think of what I else I need to change my name on... :bonk:

Is it an offence to go to another SS office after getting a Reference Number from one office.

I've been to the social security office 3ce now and still i cant get a card. i went when i just came in before my I94 expired, it was not approved. The officer said she could not find my info with USCIS. I went after my I94 expired but EAD approved the officer asked me to come back when i receive EAD or GC. I was there again on Monday (2nd August) with my EAD he said he couldnt locate my info with USCIS that my I94 has expired. He however said i should give him till Friday that he would sort it out. He gave me his number to call him. I called today and after 35mins of waiting on the phone he said i'll have to wait for about 3 weeks when he would have been able to confirm from USCIS or i wait till i receive GC. My GC has not even been approved and nobody knows when it 'll be approved. I feel so terrible. It means the EAD is not useful then. Its been a sad day for me. I thot the EAD 'll make life easier.

Sorry to hear that you're having a tough time with the SSA. I don't get why this happens :(

I went to the SS office to get my card, and the officer guy was super nice! He was all amazed at the new card design. I told him I have a job offer and he said he'd call me monday to let me know if my number was ready!

I'm not sure how coming from a K-1 visa affects it, but you should be able to get the SNN with the EAD. We did that, and we had no problems whatsoever.

Now its time to get ready to dance with the NVC ..... Hopefully this will be quick and painless

This is ridiculous! You should be able to get your SSN with your EAD. I would stay on top of them until you get it.

You are having serious progress this week - good deal!

This is ridiculous! You should be able to get your SSN with your EAD. I would stay on top of them until you get it.
