I called my school's international students office to inform them I changed my status. It went like this:

Me: I'm just calling to tell you I changed my status from international student to pending PR, because I got married. I was just wondering if there's anything I need to do?

Her: (in annoyed tone) If you want to immigrate, you need to get a lawyer.

Me: NO, I'm saying I already applied for it. I am just INFORMING YOU, because I'm wondering if there's anything I need to do to let (school) know.

Her: No, just change your address on our website if you move.

Me: Ok, bye.

Anyway it was a pretty pointless phone call. I'm already done with my coursework, so I don't need the tuition reduction. I was annoyed that she, the "immigration counselor" at a university with #2 international student enrollment in the USA, was completely clueless and giving students erroneous advice like "you need a lawyer". Most people probably don't! I hope no poor student takes her advice.

You are right most of immigration officers that work in the university international office dont know anything on how to migrate.I was in that shoe before until I met the real woman in charge,She was so polite and told me what to do,even before I filed. She said I should bring my NOA I-485.When it finally came I sent it to her and my profile was adjusted to pending permanent resident.I havent stay up to a year here in Texas to enable me qualify of in-state tuition.

At least your ISO picked up the phone and talked to you. The school I go to does not give me a phone number for the ISO at all. Anything I have (any question) I have to talk to other people and these other people give me an answer. I just know the name of the ISO because it is in the I-20. my ISO is an alien :alien: from outer space and can't talk to students who pay a lot of money. I wish I knew that from the start.

My other ISO from another school was wonderful, helped me with everything, I guess I got used to her and now this situation is quite diferent.:ranting:

Ok, so I have a question now that was asked in the April filers forum. Did any of you who had your interviews already have to bring your co-sponsors original documents? If you had a co-sponsor that is. They have copies of everything that was sent in with the application, but I never really thought that I had to bring my co-sponsors originals, I don't feel comfortable asking her for it even if it is just one day.

ummm wow, ok  Some DSOs are just clueless... I went in to see mine last week and she just took a copy of my GC, deleted me out of the SEVIS system and told me to make sure I applied for Financial Aid for Spring :)

And to answer a question,I dont think ya co-sponsr dont have to pay back the Fin aid but I hope someone comes along and verifies this

I think I remember my lawyer telling me that we should bring the originals, but I'd also be interested to hear if people were asked for it/what they brought.
