Got my green card in the mail!!!!! :wow:

Didn't expect to see it so soon - although only the principal green card arrived. My spouse and kids are still waiting for theirs. The green card looks nice and green, all snazzy with the chip in it, and all the state flags/presidents at the back on the strip. Even got a neat metal foil envelope to keep the card in to prevent people from snooping on it :dance:

Ha, we going on vacation next week staying in Arizona for a few days as well so I better keep it with me in case we get stopped with the new laws in effect :devil:

Hey!! I'm so happy for you. Congratulation!!!

Approved! Very quick. We were there about 7, for a 7:30 appointment. Handed in our interview letter, got another form to fill out, started betting on if we would get called in before our lawyer got there or not - lawyer arrived about 7:35, we were called in at 7:40. She (Officer Lynn Phillips) swore us in, had me put our new address on the form (I had filled it out with our current address, but we are moving in 2 days) while she asked Fred some questions - how we met, what my birth date was. Then my turn - what was Fred's birth date, did I have any kids (said no, except for Fred's children being my stepchildren), then some of the yes/no questions, and a couple more on my arrests (what they were for - DUIs, what years, result of the arrests, penalties and fines). Somewhere at the beginning she said "When I approve your application" and she told Fred from the get go that his had been approved. She looked at my passport, took the I-94, and said I was approved, but the doctor had not completely filled out the I-693, so have them finish it off and mail it back, and she would then have the green card processed. No discussion about the removal of conditions phase, like others had, but meh. And that was it. 15 minutes tops. No questions whatsoever about intent, which is what we were all worried about for many reasons - we were married and in the process of the CR-1 when I entered the US, the border guard in secondary had written "No EOS/COS" on my I-94, and I had overstayed.

On the way back home, we stopped at the doctor's and had them redo the I-693 and sent it off certified mail, so now, all I do is wait.

A side note: while we were waiting, watching people get called in (they start interviews at 7), one woman came out calling a name that looked very angry, and another called for their interviewee who wasn't there, but their lawyer was, and she got snippy with the lawyer, understandably. I mentioned that I hoped we did not get either of those. Of course, we got the second one - but she was great. My lawyer says that she is one of the smartest and most efficient IOs in the office, and she really was. She had obviously reviewed our file completely before our interview. Big thumbs up to Officer Lynn Phillips! good.gif

Congratulations!!!! Thats great news :dance::dance:

I want to celebrate too!! :) ValerieA, what proof of your relationship did they ask for? I need to start putting things together...procrastinating is something I do very well ;)

I just handed her my entire file of proof, and she went through it at the end. For some reason, the lease file and affidavits from people did not come out when I grabbed them. However, my feeling (and the lawyer's) was that we were pre-approved. My take? Intent really doesn't matter!

I will list out my proof tomorrow for you when I am not celebrating. blush.gif

ETA: Thank you so much everyone for the congratulations. You guys rock! kicking.gif

I am addicted to checking this forum 10x per hour. What am I going to do after I get my GC? There'll be this empty void in my heart that once was MAY 2010 forum... :blink:
