I feel a little disappointed too, that the officer didn't want to look at my stuff! :hehe: I only brought one binder though.

While we were in the waiting room, I nudged hubby and said "Remember, you're the petitioner and you petitioned me, your wife". I filled out the whole packet and all he did was sign where I told him to, so he has NO CLUE about any of the paperwork. Only thing he knows is he signed a form that said he'd support me if I'm a public charge.

My hubby is exactly the same way, he has no clue either about all the paperwork, just signed everything

Hi all

My wife and I are filers who had our interview today in San Francisco. We had a very cold East Asian lady who grilled us for a long time (my estimate is 30 minutes but it seemed really long). In the end she didn't take my I94 and gave us a printout that said the case was under further review. She didn't seem to imply that more documentation was needed but said that we will get a notice if more info is needed. My wife and I were together for almost 5 years before we got married and have a lot of joint documentation that we submitted and the interviewer complained that we didn't provide enough pictures!

Interestingly, I have already received my AP and my EAD is on the way. I am wondering if anyone else had a similar experience but mostly I am just reporting on our fairly frustrating experience to add to the knowledge here on the board.

I had a very quick and painless interview as well! We waited for about 15 mins in the waiting room, then the interview lasted 10 minutes tops. ;)

He asked my husband (petitioner):

Name, address, phone number, place of birth, SSN?

Me:

Name, maiden name, phone number, place of birth, SSN, parents names, my job?

Asked me some of the questions about whether I had been arrested, deported, terrorist activities, etc. (All NO, obviously!)

He asked us, where did you meet? When did you get married?

He asked to see husband's driver's license and my passport (did not take out I-94). Asked if I brought anything else I WANTED to add to my file. He didn't appear to want anything. I gave him our phone bill and a more recent bank statement. I showed him some pictures (about 5). He didn't look at the phone bill or bank statement, just took them. He glanced at the pictures and gave them back.

Then he said, well, it looks very straightforward. (Husband), I'm approving your petition for your wife. (Wife), I'm approving your AOS. You'll receive your green card in about 2 weeks. We said, great thanks!

THE END.

Guess I was worried for no reason! He asked no trick questions, nothing about the affadavit of support, nothing about my F-1 visa or my intentions, nothing about why we haven't had our wedding yet. Actually he asked hardly anything about us or our relationship! Guess our case is pretty straightforward like he said. ;) Hubby claims its because the officer could see the L-O-V-E in his eyes. ;)

Good luck to everyone with upcoming interviews!

Congratulations....Thanks so much for sharing!

Congratulations to everyone that got approved today!!!!!:dance:

I am not sure if I am approved yet or not. Apparently they stopped approving on the spot in FL so we gotta wait for a decision in the mail within 10business days. The IO said everything looks good and he kept my I-94 so I hope that it is a good sign.

Here is my interview experience. The whole thing lasted about 20minutes, most of it spent looking through all our paperwork. I saw a lot of couples who were called in individually and I was sooo happy when he called both hubby and I at the same time. So he started by asking hubby his full name, ssn, date of birth, our address and phone number and asked him my full name, when we got married, about how we first met. He then asked me those yes/no questions and then my info just like him including price for rent and the last time I entered the US. He then asked both of us the last time we had a disagreement and good thing we had a disagreement about where to eat out last night lol and he giggled at that. He asked for my passport and his driver's license. He went through our paperwork which had all our joint info and some pics. Then he said ok. We are done here. It looks good but couldnt say whether or not we were approved. He said to wait 10business days for something in the mail. I practiced sooo much and brought soo much paperwork that he didnt even ask for. All in all it went well and barely any crazy questions.

So hopefully I see something in the mail soon and I hope it will be good news.

Good luck to everyone else that has upcoming interviews. Just be yourselves and be honest and it should go well.

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like it went real smooth. Congratulations and try not to pull all your hair out in the next 10 days.

Hi Indomex :)

I have heard of experiences like yours before. (Hubby and I read a bunch of people's interview experiences to prepare for ours)

If memory serves, most of the ones who had experiences like yours end up getting the welcome letter a few weeks later in the mail.

Some get called back for a second interview.. but even then these people pass.

If you've been together for a long time, there is no need to worry even if you get a 2nd interview.

Besides, sounds like you had enough documentation and they didn't ask for more.

So they probably just wanted to check a few more things before they make the decision.

Try no to stress about it too much. Some IOs are bound to be less friendly than others :bonk: ..

Hope you hear something soon!

engineer21, thanks for your kind words! I am not worried even if we do get called back for a second interview since we have been together for so long. I was feeling very frustrated yesterday because I felt the interviewer hadn't seen all the documentation we had provided and was trying to establish legitimacy by focusing one or two issues (like photos, etc). Our lawyer actually told me not to submit too many photos because we have so much other stuff that the photos would only make the file thicker without adding anything of value. Turned out the lawyer was wrong.

Also, I checked the online case status and it shows that nothing was touched yesterday although the I/O was clearly altering our file. I guess I shouldn't waste my time checking that system!

Hopefully, we'll hear some good news soon. Will post on the board when I hear. Meanwhile, I send my best wishes to everyone else on the board and hope no one gets our I/O!

Definitely don't count on the online case status.

We saw our IO put an approval stamp on our form and he also scanned our file a couple of times and was typing a bunch of things on his computer.

we still didn't get any touches. Not yesterday, and so far not today either..

I'm sure you'll receive your welcome letter soon. I've seen cases that the AOS filer felt the interview didnt go well and few days they receive their welcome package. The worst scenario is to get a second interview. Dont worry yourself all is well. We're waiting to share the good news with you.

Thanks to all of you :) I was most frustrated yesterday because of my rather naive belief that when everything is legit it will always shine through clearly when it comes to legal issues... although I know that this is not how the world works. So, we walked into the interview perhaps a little too relaxed that this was going to be an easy decision for the I/O. When I felt that it was going too well, I did tense up and both my wife and I ended up interrupting and completing each other's sentences. Hopefully that doesn't come back to bite us...:(
