Thanks everyone!

The only weird thing is that nothing has happened with my I-765 application yet. No EAD card production ordered, no touch, nothing. The guy today seemed surprised when he asked if I was working and I replied that I don't have the authorization yet and therefore am only able to interview right now. He said I will most likely have my greencard in hand before the EAD (which then is obviously useless). Anyways, I'm very happy and looking forward to be able to travel back to Germany for Christmas!!

Next step: getting a nice job!

We're approved!!!!!

We literally just got back home and had a champagne toast

The interview was fairly painless.

Our interview was scheduled for 1:30 pm.

We got to the Lawrence Service Center at about 12:50pm, gave our interview letter to the front desk and were told to sit in the waiting area. (Different waiting room than for my biometrics last time)

We didn't get called in until around 1:50pm.

We had to spit our gums out into the IO's waste basket because we forgot(eventhough I had set aside two pieces of paper for both of us earlier :bonk: )

Then he swore us in and asked for both our passports and birth certificates.

He asked me for any and all passports and other USCIS documents ever issued to me.

I handed my one and only passport and my $320 replacement I-94  and he added my I-94 into our file.

And then I told him that I had lost my old passports and I-94.

He asked me if I had my previous EAD with me and I said I lost that too.

He asked me: "Do you lost everything ma'am?" and laughed a little.

Then the interview started:

Questions to hubby (as far as I can remember-- it went really fast!):

My full name, My maiden name, Where I was born, Where and how we met, My previous address before we moved in together, What major I was studying when we met, Have we ever travelled together and where.

He asked hubby and me if we have proof that we live together, any joint finances, and pictures.

Hubby took out the photo album and I started taking out all the other papers.

He looked at some pictures and then told me I can keep all the documents I had just pulled out.

He didn't look at any of it, but we could tell he appreciated that we were so prepared and it seems he just wanted to see that we had other things besides pictures.

Questions to me:

Who is the mutual friend who was the reason we met (hubby had said we met at a halloween party through a mutual friend), Where hubby lived when we met, Where did he work then, Where does he work now, Where did he move to after that before we moved in together, Have I met his parents, what is my GPA and do I have my college transcript (Panic!! -- then he said he was only joking  )

Then he went through the rest of my info on my g-325a and i-485 (including all of the yes/no questions), joking around here and there as he goes.

At the end of the yes/no questions he told us he is approving our application.

Then he stood up, got a stamp and put a big red APPROVED Stamp on the front page of one of our forms (couldn't tell which one, I think the i-130)

He said "as of this moment you are a legal permanent resident of the United States of America" I was so happy I could cry!!

Then he gave me the whole explanation of removing conditions and when I can apply for naturalization.

He spent a few more minutes (kinda awkward for hubby and I) just typing some things into the computer and then he told us to make sure my name is on our mailbox and that the GC will come in a couple weeks.

And then we were done!

Hubby told me to tell all of you thank you for all the support, advice, and keeping me sane during this journey!! :luv::luv:

Best of luck to everyone else!!!!!!

Congrats

I had a very quick and painless interview as well! We waited for about 15 mins in the waiting room, then the interview lasted 10 minutes tops. ;)

He asked my husband (petitioner):

Name, address, phone number, place of birth, SSN?

Me:

Name, maiden name, phone number, place of birth, SSN, parents names, my job?

Asked me some of the questions about whether I had been arrested, deported, terrorist activities, etc. (All NO, obviously!)

He asked us, where did you meet? When did you get married?

He asked to see husband's driver's license and my passport (did not take out I-94). Asked if I brought anything else I WANTED to add to my file. He didn't appear to want anything. I gave him our phone bill and a more recent bank statement. I showed him some pictures (about 5). He didn't look at the phone bill or bank statement, just took them. He glanced at the pictures and gave them back.

Then he said, well, it looks very straightforward. (Husband), I'm approving your petition for your wife. (Wife), I'm approving your AOS. You'll receive your green card in about 2 weeks. We said, great thanks!

THE END.

Guess I was worried for no reason! He asked no trick questions, nothing about the affadavit of support, nothing about my F-1 visa or my intentions, nothing about why we haven't had our wedding yet. Actually he asked hardly anything about us or our relationship! Guess our case is pretty straightforward like he said. ;) Hubby claims its because the officer could see the L-O-V-E in his eyes. ;)

Good luck to everyone with upcoming interviews!

Yeah, that was our feeling too.. there didn't seem to be too many relationship related questions at all.

Mostly just verifying our info on our g-325a forms.

It's a great feeling to be done isn't it!

Congratulations to everyone that got approved today!!!!!:dance:

I am not sure if I am approved yet or not. Apparently they stopped approving on the spot in FL so we gotta wait for a decision in the mail within 10business days. The IO said everything looks good and he kept my I-94 so I hope that it is a good sign.

Here is my interview experience. The whole thing lasted about 20minutes, most of it spent looking through all our paperwork. I saw a lot of couples who were called in individually and I was sooo happy when he called both hubby and I at the same time. So he started by asking hubby his full name, ssn, date of birth, our address and phone number and asked him my full name, when we got married, about how we first met. He then asked me those yes/no questions and then my info just like him including price for rent and the last time I entered the US. He then asked both of us the last time we had a disagreement and good thing we had a disagreement about where to eat out last night lol and he giggled at that. He asked for my passport and his driver's license. He went through our paperwork which had all our joint info and some pics. Then he said ok. We are done here. It looks good but couldnt say whether or not we were approved. He said to wait 10business days for something in the mail. I practiced sooo much and brought soo much paperwork that he didnt even ask for. All in all it went well and barely any crazy questions.

So hopefully I see something in the mail soon and I hope it will be good news.

Good luck to everyone else that has upcoming interviews. Just be yourselves and be honest and it should go well.

Congrats to both you and Meijie!

We have the same local office! I had no idea that they might have stopped approving on the spot... that would really suck because I am VERY impatient and anxious when it comes to USCIS related stuff...

Thanks for sharing your experience though. I hope that ours is just as painless :)

All hubby and I did this weekend was go through all of our binders of evidence!

I was a tad bit dissapointed that the IO didn't want to see any

But hubby said: "hey I'd rather have too much and not need any, than too little and be denied!"

He is wise beyond his years that one..(L)

I feel a little disappointed too, that the officer didn't want to look at my stuff! :hehe: I only brought one binder though.

While we were in the waiting room, I nudged hubby and said "Remember, you're the petitioner and you petitioned me, your wife". I filled out the whole packet and all he did was sign where I told him to, so he has NO CLUE about any of the paperwork. Only thing he knows is he signed a form that said he'd support me if I'm a public charge.
