I got an RFE in the mail that is essentially a restatement of the questions on the I-129F regarding marriage broker, etc. It says "supplement to I-129F" on the first page.

I've read around the VJ site regarding IMBRA but am still puzzled / concerned. The definition of marriage broker seems pretty simple "did you or finacee' pay any fees?" Is there some intrepretation that I am missing? Have any of you found this to not be the correct interpretation of the definition?

My I-129F answers to the 3 IMBRA questions were : NO, NO, NO.

We did start chatting through a website where it was just photos and e-mail/posting through that site. No fees paid by myself or fiance. Is my answer of NO correct given that?

If I missed the answer in a prior post or other thread, sorry. I've spent a couple of hours reading. Maybe I just feel more comfortable with the folks in this section of VJ. B)

There have been several attempts made at interpreting the definition of 'marriage broker'. Ultimately, it is up to the USCIS to decide based on your circumstances.

I would suggest that your response to the RFE be the same as your answers on your orignal I-129F. You might consider attaching a letter which explains, in more detail, the circumstances of how you met and make it clear that no money was exchanged to facilitate the connection between you and your fiance.

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

Thanks vartan and Jen

I did explain the details and give the website in my I-129F submission.

I was traveling this week for work and knew this was waiting for me when I got home today. So I've been no doubt overthinking the whole thing for the last few days.
