I'm starting to print off all the forms we need for AOS and after looking at the the example I-485, I see there has been an 'A Number' filled in on Part One.

Where do I find out my A number?

Many thanks! :D

Ahhh thank you!!! I dont have my I-94 yet. I'm just getting everything prepared ready for leaving and then AOS.

I've never written it down until now, not even for the K1 application. I'll have a look on the NOA1 then! Many thanks!

I also wanted to know this because when i enter it online on the i-485 pdf it resets the "A" number to 000-000-000. on my passport on the back of the -94 it has an "A" followed by 8 numbers. is it this one and if so why does the pdf reject it and always reset to 000-000-000?

because if you look at your NOA2 you will see that it is 9 digits long. It starts with A0 and THEN your 8 digits like on the back of the I-94. The person at your POE just didn't bother writing the 0 in.

Hey guys, My I-94 doesnt have A number written at the back ... is it must ?

No it's not a must. Check your NOA2. SOME POE's write it on there but they don't have to (from what I understand). In either event it WILL be on your NOA2 from your fiancee visa.

Uh oh..............I had no idea that you had to fill in the A number on the I-485........I never even paid attention to the number on the NOA2. I know its going to pose a problem..........will it pose a big problem? This process has been a nightmare so far...........I hope it gets better. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

It may slow your process down, since they use that number to connect the dots.

You did, however, send in a copy of your NOA2, correct?

Yes sir, I did send the copy of the NOA2 along with the package. Thanks for your reply, hopefully, it won't slow down the process too much.

Unless you get an uptight person looking at your application, it should be ok then, since you included the NOA2.

(worst case - you didn't fill in the form completely and they send it back)

One quick question about the I-485 form, for my Fiance(soon to be wife)...the LAST name section, do I put her last name or her new married last name?

thanks!!

Use whichever name you want on the PR/Green Card (and/or EAD etc) to be in. If that name is the married name, so be it.

If you leave everything in the maiden name then later want to change it, it will cost you $$. Up to you. Most folks - changing their name to their now-married name will use it (married name) on the AOS forms. So if you're going to do it, now's the time. :star:
