We had some great news yesterday. We received an NOA stating that our case has been transferred to the California Processing Center for faster processing. From what I've read on this site, I believe that this means we will NOT be asked to interview. This is very important to us, because it frees us up to spend the summer in Thailand with Advance Parole and with no real worries about getting back on short notice for an interview. However, I want feedback from others with more experience or knowledge to check my assumptions. Therefore, please respond. Thanks.

Ron

Don't assume that you will not be assigned an interview. Being transferred to CSC just means they will attempt to adjudicate your case without interview, but sometimes they still need an interview with you. There is a pretty good chance you won't be interviewed though. I guess if you want to go away, just get a ticket that can be changed easily. And get someone to check your mail, it sounds like you get about a months notice for the interview, gives you plenty of time to get back to the US.

Do you think we will know by June 30 whether or not an interview will be needed?

We can't be sure. At the very least you should have your AP by then. It's just luck of the draw unfortunately.

We already have AP. We got it at the New York City field office after making an infopass appointment. My concern is that the woman who gave it to us was quite suspicious of my wife's motive for leaving the US so soon. I'm afraid she may have placed a note in our file suggesting that we should have an interview. Of course, this is nothing but suspicion on my part. Anyway, a look at the average timelines suggests that we probably will receive the conditional green card in the mail before June 30 unless there is a problem. Similarly, if there is a need for an interview, we will probably receive notice of that prior to June 30. This is very unlikely, however, unless my fear that the INS officer in New York wants us to have one.
