Many of the things that happen to you in Colombia have happened to me in Peru. I love our country because of the protections it has for it's citizens. I know their laws are different and the way they treat their citizens/noncitizens. I don't sit here and complain about Peru though, because I don't live there. If I lived there, I'd probably be posting right now complaining about how I get overcharged at the markets, buses etc. But I don't... cause we chose to live in New York and not Lima. That's just the reality of it. It's a whole nother topic.

California's economy would be even more crippled if all the undocumented workers were somehow magically deported. There is no substantiated connection between the states high unemployment and undocumented workers in the state.

So Australia must have been stupid to halve their immigration quota on the onset of the financial crisis, averting a catastrophe and coming out with a 5% unemployment rate.

Nevertheless, you tell me how we are going to get 12 million Californians out of poverty when there are no jobs available to them? I wonder how they lifted up the living standard in AUS hmmm . Wouldn;t happen to be because they have almost zero illegal aliens and a low population? Which means even a cashier at Kmart earns $2.3K USD a month. Actually, immigration numbers in general is also another interesting issue considering you seem to think that even having China's population would be good for America; simply because it's a country of immigrants.

As Gary pointed out, illegal aliens flush down the toilet every right Americans have fought for work wise. And to be honest compared to countries like AUS, we already only have 1/5 what they offer and receive employment wise. Who in their right mind would want to disregard these rights? Yet amazingly enough, you actually advocate employing illegals and giving them their $6 period. My father in law retired and got a pat on the back. My uncle retired in AUS and he received a $180K payout. You don't get those sorts of working conditions with illegals bud.

Seems as if the -open boarders- crowd couldn't care less about these Illegals either. They say they do but I have been aware of a number of them who have worked for these scum contractors who hire them, use them and then not even pay them one cent, they simply have a "checks in the mail" promise with little they can do when it doesn't come.

We have occasional stories in the news about young latina girls being ferried around town to prostitute large groups of men (often Latina as well).

I really feel for these people and wonder what their circumstances are and why they just don't leave but surely there are replacements coming if they do.

To support an open border is to support vulnerable people being used by others, often in the worst sort of ways.

I just wanted to make a personal post, after reading all these articles and all this anti-illegal immigration banter back and forth. I had some personal questions for the people who support the AZ immigration bill who claim they're not "racists" and that racism against latinos wasn't a motivator in the bill.

I've seen some of the racist posts here and honestly was shocked at some of the filth coming out of some people. We're on an immigration message board, most of those with the racist comments have or at least had immigrant wives/husbands yet appear so anti-immigrant? It's little wonder to me why some had to shop outside America to find a partner that would taken them.

From what I can see this so called law is only going to do one thing cost the tax payer in AZ more money! It'll fill up the courts, fill up the jails and more importantly fill up the lawyers wallets with all kinds of lawsuits as peoples rights will without a doubt be violated. So what do we think AZ is going to do once it finds one of these evil illegals?.. Take them to court.. jail them for how many months, years at tax payer expense then what! Beg USCIS/ICE to come ferry them to the border?

Immigration is a very complex set of rules and programs which have evolved over centuries and is still changing.

Often it make sense and often it does not.

Why would it be hypocritical for somebody to have been in the system.....and yet also feel parts of it were harmful to the country or unfair to others?

I think it is interesting that the thread about the AZ sheriff saying that the law is pointless and will have no impact on illegal immigration was all but ignored.
