i only sent the required document but on the letter i received at the interview it also has an X marked in passport spot

yet i gave them passports and they returned them so i thought they didnt need them

but i am gonna send them this monday along with a cover letter

my interview was april 22 they received required document (permission letter from my childs bio father)on april 26

but i still got our passports

oh imso worried gonna take so long

Hi Smurfette,

They need the passports to stamp the visa on so I guess it would be a good idea for you to go ahead and send them in with a coverletter. Also, email the consulate with a CATCHY subject like "Sent in passports separately" or something of that sort and just explain it to them and ask for a reply back saying that they made a note of that in your file.

Hopefully it won't take too long to get your visa as it was just one document they wanted and you sent it in right away. It seems to me that domicile cases are the ones that take longer than the rest.

Don't worry about anything, because thats what all of us have been doing and it doesn't help any. You sent in right away what they wanted so you can just hope and pray that they take a look at it asap and issue you your visa.

Thanks Carolie, I hope I can give you guy some good news next week.

Smurf- We sent in my husband's passport the first time we sent in the requested documents which was in January. The letter that was given to us, along with the CO, stated that we should send the passport in with the additional documents. The second time they requested more documents, they kept the passport and just sent a letter. We sent those documents in March 30th.

I know its really hard to think positive, believe me! My husband and I have been separated since the beginning of this year and its just a constant emotional rollercoaster. Only thing we can do is wait, and just try to remain sane. I hope it helps to know that you aren't the only one in this battle.

i am gonna mail the passports on monday for sure

when i was at interview the man who interview me told me it wont delay me to much

not sure what he meant by that

i was to emotional to really speak

it so crazy cause all he wanted was a simple letter and notarized from my childs bio father and copy of his ID with his signature.

which i sent right away

into montreal

Well it has been almost 6 wks for us and we are still waiting, but Lenie got hers ins 7 wks. Both of us are domicile though. You should be getting it earlier than us, hopefully. Relax for now, don't stress yourself out. I know its easy to say and hard to do, but its just going to drive you nuts if you don't go with the flow.

Hi Cowgirl,

My congressperson faxed it directly to the consulate and she may have mailed a copy, too. If you can ask yours to do that, I would because I think it's more effective. I'm sure you guys WILL be in the same boat soon...I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

When we call they just say they are still reviewing our case and they had started on April 20th (meaning thats when they opened up our documents), some say AP others say reviewing. Ours is also a review of domicile and we had sent in our documents March 30th so about 1.5wks after yours. Do you know if your congresswoman contacted the Montreal consulate directly, or did she contact DOS or Visanet? My Senator usually contacts DOS or Visanet so if you congresswoman had contacted Montreal direcly, I can request that from my Senator. Thanks for your help. I hope my husband is in the same boat as you soon!

Hi Lenie,

Thanks for the reply. Do you know what the fax number is to the consulate? Also, what exactly did they fax to them? Thanks a bunch. I'm going to give my Senator a call tomorrow to let them know the fax number and so forth. Thanks a bunch.

Good! I'm glad that your senator is so responsive. I don't know the fax number or anything, but I do think that the senator's office has that info. I'm sure you'll be hearing good news very soon.

FYI, did contact Senator's office, and they said they were going to contact Montreal that same day, which was Monday. Will have my hubby call tomorrow to see if anything has changed. I emailed montreal today, ofcourse will take forever for a reply.

Hi Smurf,

I sent my congressperson a letter than outlined what happened from the denial at the interview to present, and also included a copy of the letter I had sent to the consulate which listed my domicile proof. I asked for their help with my husband's visa since it had been a couple weeks past the four week time frame the consulate was supposed to reply. I also explained that being away from my spouse for as long as I have was very hard and that I would like to be reunited. My congressperson's rep sent a letter that included all of that and my husband's visa was approved within 3 days of the letter. Although we were at the 7 week mark, I do think it helped. Good luck!

Oh, and I would definitely mention that you have been apart for so long.

That's too bad, Cowgirl. So, I guess when they had said it was "in review" did that just mean AP?

Hopefully something will happen this week for you. My congressperson sent something on a Tuesday, the visa was approved on a Friday, printed the next Tuesday, and mailed on Wednesday.

I am sure something will happen soon! :)

Hi Lenie,

I called DOS today and they said status states its still pending (i think review, AP, and pending all mean the same thing). I called my senator right after and they said they contacted Montreal on May 10th which was a week ago. It will be 7 weeks tomorrow for us since we sent in our documents. I don't know exactly what my senator sent to Montreal though. I'm just thinking they sent in a letter asking for an update regarding our case. I'm going to call again on Friday and hopefully we will get some good news.
