If my wife gets an enhanced DL, do you honestly think she would be able to cross, or will her name come up flagged as being in the process of getting her VISA, and therefore refused entry into the US?

Has anyone actually tried this?

smurfette just got hers to visit, she hasn't travelled yet as far as I know.

Why wouldn't it work?

Congrats to those who are finally getting their visas!

I guess there is no reason she would not be able to cross... it just is nice to think that maybe she could visit me while we wait to be officially reunited.

Hmm, so is info transferred between Montreal and DoS one way only? It'd be nice if DoS could relay the message "you already have the passports, check your mail again".. otherwise idk what you could do :( I'm guessing you don't have anyone who could take the call for you.

I had to update you guys, I called DOS (thanks for giving me the # everybody!) and they said that my wife's VISA was issued on the 14th!!!!!! I am practically doing cartwheels at my desk. Now hopefully it is on the way to her and she can come join me this weekend!

I will keep you posted, but as has been said, it looks like the Montreal COnsulate is finally unclogging their huge backlog.

May I ask how long your wait was? I'm on my 11th week, got response from Montreal like 5 weeks ago about the mail backlog. Trying to sort of draw a diag of all these time-lines. Maybe if Montreal didn't ask for so many silly documents, questions or proofs, maybe there just wouldn't be a backlog which they sure hate nor would the US gov need to hire people.

Cheers!

we sent my wife's passport with proof of my domicile in the US on april 24th, they received it on the 26th (according to the tracking number)...

so all in all, almost eight weeks... it was "issued" exactly seven weeks after they recieved it.

what was it they were missing from you?

Can you tell us when you sent the documents and such?
