Hi,

I've been married for 5 years to a US Citizen (we got married in England) and two years ago we moved to the US as part of a work transfer from my company. I'm on a L1A visa. We had thought it would be temporary and have now decided we'll probably stay, so I want to get the ball rolling on a Green Card / AOS to give myself more flexibility.

I've read everything here and realise I need to file a plethora of forms (I-130, I-131, I-485, I-765, I-864, G-325A, G-1145).

What is less clear to me is when I have to do the medical (I-693). Do I do that up front and send it in as part of my pack, or do it at some point later after everything is approved? Also if I do the medical, does that mean I don't have to submit DS-3025? It seems most of the marriage-based AOS applications are from people on family visas, and I think you guys do medicals before you arrive?

Thanks in advance for your help on this.

Nick

You would send in the medical when you do the AOS. (part of the package).

The I-693 (full) is what you would be needing to do. (via a CS)

Check the guides above.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

As Bobby_Umit said, you will need to get the medical done prior to sending in all your forms.

Here's the CS link: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=CIV

Best of luck. Make sure you call around first to make sure you're getting the best deal. Also, you don't need to have the shots done at the CS. Some people find it cheaper to get them done at a health clinic etc but you will need to see the CS first at least to determine which ones you need.

** moved from "Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from Family Based Visas" to "Adjustment of Status from Work, Student, & Tourist Visas" as you are adjusting from a L1 visa and the prior forum is for K1, K2, K3 & K4**
