Good Day Everyone!

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this stuff. I'm a K1 Visa Holder and I'm trying to figure out what I need to do to get my vehicle to come with me in the move to the US. The questions I have are as follow;

1. My truck is a 2007 Pontiac Torrent, does anyone know if these cars now a days come with the needed sticker under the hood?

2. Any one know the website where you can order the compliance letter from GM?? I know there was a website link I had a bookmark for but I lost it.

3. Do I need to fill out the DOT form HS-7 and form 3520-1 ?? or does that happen at the border when crossing with all my belongings and vehicle ??

4. Any help from anyone how to fill both of these forms out, anyone have an example of a similar vehicle or vehicle with similar year that they can upload their image of the form they filled out? specially on the form 3520-1 so many damn numbers, confusing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated from anyone who went through this already.

Thank you,

AJ

The link you were looking for you probably found in the Canada immigration guide - the pinned topic at the top of this page. Anyway, the contact info for all manufacturers is here:

My link

No, you don't fill out any forms until you get to the border. The only one we were required to fill out is the HS-7 (we have no stickers or if we do no one looked).

The HS-7 is a really simple form, if you look at all the options you can check off in that list, there is only one that you want and that is item 2B.

That and your letter of compliance from the manufacturer is all you need.

There has been at least one case where the persons car had the sticker, BUT the POE officer wanted to see the actual compliance letter!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
