Government To BP: We Are Your Overlord. You Will Pay As We Say.

Here's my problem with this. While I agree BP should pay for the immediate damage done in the waters there, the Government is heavily responsible for that oil slick reaching the coast and spreading like it has.

That's like giving the bankers a free pass because the government hasn't come in earlier to prevent the financial crisis from becoming as large and devastating as it did. I didn't know you were such a believer in big government. You always seem to advocate no government - except when the market forces fail, apparently.

No, I believe in the Government doing its job in protecting the nation and its coastline.

My point here is there was a plan in place that has been in place for 16 years and yet we weren't prepared for it at all.

I also as mentioned find it interesting that just had a spill drill 2 months ago..... What the hell were they testing/trying to do then??
