hey, i would just like to ask if anyone ever gets denied the K1 visa during interview? Especially if they see my record that I've been denied a tourist visa twice last year.. I applied so i can attend the AAO-HNS (American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery) convention? My fiancee & I were already a couple then, but i didn't mention that to the consul... Will that have an effect on the outcome? Many Thanks

Previous visa denials may/may-not affect your current visa application. It really can depend on the reason for the denial.

**Moving thread from IR-1/CR-1 Progress/Filing Reports to "US Embassy/Consulate Discussion" where it may be more appropriate.

One of the most common reasons for denying a tourist visa is that the consular officer doesn't believe the applicant has sufficient ties to their home country, and is a risk for overstaying their visa. If that was the reason your tourist visa applications were denied then it should not affect your K1 visa application. Ties to your home country are irrelevant with a K1 because they expect you will immigrate to the US.

K1 visas are denied at the interview frequently, much more often in some countries than others. There are a wide variety of reasons for this. Perhaps the most common is that the consular officer believes the relationship is a sham for immigration purposes. Overcoming this and other reasons for denial depends a lot on the particular consulate. Spend some time in the regional forum for the Philippines for advice on what you'll need to be prepared for the interview.

If there was no chance of denial, we wouldn't petition, apply and interview then marry, apply and interview for status adjustment. We would just "register", travel, marry and stay in the USA.

Your specific concerns have been addressed well already.
