hi,

i was just wondering if there was anyone out there, that has already interviewed at the Juarez consulate? or any other mexican/us consulate..........

I want to know if they give you your visa the same day of the interview? or how many days later?

thank you!!!

Juarez is a completely unpredictable consulate. Read this forum going on as we speak...Many people have had to stay longer and pay for extra days at the hotel...Supposedly, they usually send the visa to DHL that same day if you get out of the consulate early enough, or the next day. Clearly, that is not always the case. By the way, they don't give you the visa at the consulate. They send it to DHL in Ciudad Juarez and unless they say you can have it sent to your city which I have heard of in exactly 2 waiver cases, you have to wait in Ciudad Juarez for it to arrive at one of 2 DHL offices. You can read the reviews where it says Embassy reviews if you are interested. I also follow a forum called www.smf.juarez-mexico.com and there is a lot of information about where to stay and what to do while there. I personally agree with Hopp and think people should actually only go to the medical and the visa appointment and back and not even eat "en la calle" (eat out) because you run great risk with the daytime shootings.

Yes, unpredictable is putting it mildly. The Ciudad Juarez consulate just gave visas to two cocaine users after they served their 3 year bans. Both only brought 1-2 urine tests to show as proof of their "rehabilitation" - and both received their visas. My fiance took a few puffs off joint once in Dec 2006, we served our three year ban and came back to the embassy armed with 16 clean urine tests. We however were told to come back in another six months and to attend further AA or NA classes for "behavior modification" - now we are going back in August, I wonder what run around we will get this time? Just remember that the people that work in the embassy are just paper pushers, equivalent to going to DMV, you are just a number folks so don't think anyone is going to look at your case with any kind of concern, they only know how to push paper.

Oh yes and when you go for your medical exam the answer to all drug questions is NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - do not let them intimidate you and lie to you telling you that they have tests to see if you have ever done a drug in your life, those are all lies. They want to keep as many mexicans out of the USA as possible so don't be a dummy, the answer to all the drug questions is NO! In fact, just say you don't drink, smoke, or anything, don't even go there. If you answer yes to the drug question and the use has been withing a 3 year period of the interview, you will get the 3 year ban so smarten up - don't even consider saying yes to the drug questions. I wish someone had warned us before we went, would have saved us thousands of dollars and a mountain of heartache.

Oh yes and because my fiance smoked a joint, he is now classified by the USA as a "Class A Drug Addict" - NICE.

We were approved on wednesday and are still here. Our senator's office contacted the consulate and they said that it is still just waiting to be printed off and to check the DHL website. They were closed on friday and closed this wednesday so it could be another few days yet. So far it has cost us an extra 4 nights at a hotel, plus food. We just have been eating at the hotel so that we don't have to leave. So yeah, we planned on it being a 5 day trip and so far we are at 9, so make sure you have some time off. I have already missed a reception with my family and I was supposed to start a new job today and may have just lost it. Unfortunately their days off are more important that printing off visas and costing people time and money :) but good luck!

Hello, back in 2008, YES, we got the visa that same day. I'm not sure if it has changed since then. Why don't you try giving them a call to ask?

Hi TwoInLove, I know exactly what you mean. My fiance went for his interviews which included the waiver one and was told that we had to send in more hardship evidence as well as his criminal record from here because of the DWI's he had in the US. Of course we have copies, and certificates of where he's done his rehab. But the thing is I don't understand how they just gave visas to the two people who have done a serious drug like cocaine?!?!!? Seriously, how have they punish the people for having something minor just has a DWI but not a drug like crack?? Sometimes it makes me wonder about our freaking goverment, anyway sorry just blowing steam off.

Best wishes to you and yours!
