Working from Home While on AOS

Hello!

I have a quick question...

Is it okay if I continue doing jobs at Odesk.com while still on AOS? I have been doing jobs there when I was still in the Philippines. And now that I am jobless, and making use of my time, can I continue doing it? I plan to continue doing jobs there, but I won't withdraw any payments I could make, and wait until I get my EAD.

Do you think this does not violate the laws? If it does, then I won't continue... I just want to be sure and safe.

Has anyone been into this situation? Thank you everyone!

Is what you are doing work ? Are you receiving payment for it ? Not touching the money doesn't mean you aren't getting paid. I would not want to cause issues when AOS tends to go through pretty quickly.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

IF the work is for a US company then no you cannot.

If the work is for an overseas company (like Philippines based) then yes you can. You simply cannot earn US income. You are permitted to earn income from overseas though. Remembering that you will need to declare it on your tax returns at some stage.

---

So I just had a look. It is a US based company therefore you CANNOT work there. You cannot work, or even volunteer if your receive any benefit for it at ANY stage. For instance there was a gentleman who wanted to volunteer at the US company he was going to work for once his EAD came through. He was not allowed because volunteering there meant he would eventually earn an income there.

What you are suggesting WOULD violate the laws, yes.
