Forms - N/A vs. None, and corrrections

I saw in another recent thread where Aussiewench made a brief distinction between writing "N/A" or "None" to fill in a blank on a form. On my husband's G-325A forms, he didn't distinguish between the two.

1. Does this distinction necessarily cause a problem/delay?

2. If I correct the form (dry correction tape and a re-write), will they accept it?

Has anybody else here used correction tape/fluid on a form that went through okay? I would hate to have to send it back to England and wait for him to fix it. We are otherwise ready to file this coming week.

Congratulations on all recent approvals. Great to see these posts as we jump in the sea alongside you.

according to lawyer friends and family, you should not ever use correction fluid or tape on a legal document, it should be re-typed.

I don't know if they still fuss about it but a few years ago they were sending out RFEs if someone put NONE where N/A should be, and vice versa or left it blank.

I suppose its up to you really. There was legislation of somesort a couple years ago that was supposed to cut down on the amount of stupid RFEs, but... *shrug*

Jen

1. No it wont necessarily cause a problem or delay. It would depend on the adjudicator and the questions answered.

2. From memory a member was instructed by an NVC operator to use white out and it was accepted but I havent noted one doing same at service center level. It is definately not recommended to use white out or similar.

I'd let it ride Jen.

another option instead of using the white-out is to cross out the N/A and write in "None" leaving it apparent that the answer was changed to the correct format. The appearance may not be as neat but the intent is clear.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

--->I used whiteout on my G325A for I-130, in place of birth section. It went through well at USCIS. I used lots of whiteout for my parents' I-130 forms, they were ok as well.

--->They did, however, rejected my I-129F application when I put "N/A" in last section where other person who prepared the form, if not petitioner, should sign. I sent it back with last section blank and it was accepted.

---> On its website, ISLAMABAD embassy has clearly cautioned that terms "not applicable" or "N/A" should never be used on form DS-230. Instead, use "never" and "none".

While I was in Vietnam, I had my wife fill out three copies of form G-325A for use with the I-130 application. This was before I knew about the K-3 visa so when I found out I needed it again for the I-129F application, I just used correction tape and changed "I-130" to "I-129F". So far so good...
