Also I updated biometerics as I did a walkin on 7/02. I think its slow because of the different processing dates of the local field offices

Hi everyone,

It seems as if most May 2010 applicants received their interview dates..

I still see RFE on the website.. should I begin to worry and make an info-pass to ask my case?.. or should I keep cool for some more time?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Call Customer Service and ask for a service request for the "RFE", you will have your interview letter in 3-4 days after you call. Is what I did and also one of my best friends did and we received our interview letters 3 days after the call.

We live in Dallas so lucky to be in a city with a local office. The entire process from initial application being submitted to today (interview and oath) was 95 days. We (3 of us in the family) each had separate interviews this morning at Irving, TX office and were approved. Then, we were all invited to Oath ceremony at 1:30 today. All done and we have our papers. Very slick process! Sounds like Dallas area office tries to process the Oath on same day you get your interview.

We had 95 folks in the Oath ceremony this afternoon with 27 different countries represented... Real fun as the countries were named and people clapped for each person (or persons) as their country was called out. Biggest constituency was from Mexico

Hey fellow May 2010Applicants,

Ihad my interview scheduled for 9:40. Got there at 9:10, was called in at about9:20 and was finished by 9:40. My interviewer was a very pleasant lady. I triedvery hard to remember how everything went since I know sharing experiences herehas helped me a lot. They asked a few preliminary questions: Name, Address,Number, then went into the tests:

Read:Who elects Congress?

Write:The people elect congress

Civics:(in no order and sorry, I can only remember 5 of the 6 asked)

1. Who wrote the declaration of independence?

2.Who is the commander in chief?

3.What it he party of the president?

4.What are the 2 political parties in the US?

5.Name 3 of the original colonies

Sheinformed me that I passed my test then reviewed my application. She mumbledthat I had sent everything then asked me my name and husband’s name then a fewof the questions about being arrested, nothing major. She then told me that shewould recommend me for approval and asked if I could come back at 2:45 for theoath ceremony.

Myparents come to visit in September and I wanted them to witness my oathceremony but when I asked she said she can guarantee today at 2:45 but could notguarantee any other date so today it was! We (me, my husband, he parents, grandmother and sister) took as many pictures/recordings as we could. Hopefullymy parents will get the full idea of what happened.

Soit is now official, I am a US Citizen headbonk.gif

Now I move on to update social security andobtain a passport.

Thanks for all your helpand support through the process and I will keep checking the site for everyone’supdate.

I passed as well. IO was rude so it wasn't a pleasant experience. I'm too upset right now and don't even want to talk about what happened. Just know that I was approved, the next oath date is Sept. 22nd, and if nothing goes worse, oath letter will come in the mail. Hopefully that would be the end of dealing with USCIS and I guarantee that they will never get another dime out of me.

I am so sorry to hear Jasminelily; I thought about you during the process and hoped things were going well for you.

When you are up to it, please share your experience but only if you would like to.

Try to put the negative part of it behind you and keep in mind the most important thing now which is that you passed and it is on to your oath ceremony.

Thank you everyone! I'm feeling better. The history/civic questions part and the actual interview were conducted by two different IO. I blazed through the first part, that IO was really nice and said good job!

Here comes the second part which is completely opposite: first thing I noticed when I entered the IO's office was that her radio is on. It wasn't loud, she put it kind of low, may be she thought that no one would notice, but it was loud enough that I can recognized the radio station was playing gospel music. I have no disrespect to any religion but I wasn't comfortable because it distracted me. Second thing she did was stared out the window for five seconds, I wasn't sure what she was staring at but I feel that she was very unprofessional based on her actions. After the sworn for telling truth, she started asking for all the documents and I gave her everything. She spoke softly and she seems annoyed and impatient as I had to ask her to repeat some of the questions she asked. Then I took out my pen and note book, she asked in a rude manner "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?". I replied that I am going to take some notes and she said this is not a class, you don't have to take notes. She then guaranteed me that she will give me a copy of everything that she's going to write down (of course she lied and didn't fulfill her guarantee at the end). I told her that I've written down some questions that I would like to address and asked her if I'm not allowed to write down anything. She said in a very smug voice "I've been at this for many years and I've never seen anything like this but I'm not against you to write down anything." My thought was that she is asking all the questions and writing down everything but am I not allowed to have my own questions and write down some reminders for myself in case I forget? I didn't feel like I had to explain my reasons with her anymore as I feel that she wouldn't be interested in listening. That whole ordeal about her was just ridiculous and I'm still kind of in shock that this kind of thing would happen; I sure wasn't prepared for that and I don't think someone else needs to prepare for this kind of rudeness, we didn't pay the massive application fee just to have someone spit on us. It really wasn't a pleasant experience. I don't plan on filing any formal complaint as it would just waste more of my time, I wouldn't curse or wish any bad things happen to her but I do believe in karma. What comes around goes around, if it hasn't, then it's not time yet. I just hope to be done with the oath in a month and let that be the end of dealing with USCIS.

Jasminelily, sorry to hear what happend with you. I could never imagine even an interviewing IO officer can behave someone like that. But it's finally over and you became a citizen. Congrats to you.

I am still waiting for my interview letter. I had my biometrics on 06/24 and no interview schedule yet. What a long process.:( I think NY is really slow in the process.

Last Friday I called USCIS to check on my interview letter. I also wanted to make a service request, but the lady didn't make any service request and told me that I am still within normal processing time. She even didn't tell me that what is the current status of my application. They just read the information that we can see online. BS

Hi Malvika,

Just wondering if you have received your interview letter yet? We are on the same boat, my online status didn't change from RFE eventhough I got the yellow letter on Aug 18. I also tried calling USCIS and even spoke with the immigration officer but there was no exact answer as to when am I going to receive my interview letter. She said I might need to wait 30days after I had received the yellow letter and if nothing's changed, I need to call them again. I am really hoping that I will be getting it soon!

Thanks,

Timeline

We just got back from my husband's interview and he passed! His oath is this Friday (they do give you the oath letter if you'd like to do it that week.)

We arrived an hour early because we both made a mistake and thought it was 1pm, and our interview was at 1:30pm. So we went and had a snackie at Tony Roma's (awesome) and came back. We were told to put his letter in the slot at window 9. So we had a seat and at 2:30pm, we were wondering what was going on? I went and asked security if we did something wrong and he was rude to me. I told him I was just worried we did something wrong. He told me if there was nothing by 3pm, he would go check it out. I was worried our interview letter was lost somewhere or got stuck to another because two of us put our letters there together.

Anyway, within ten minutes, hubby's name was called and I was so nervous. He said when the officer took him back, he apologized for taking so long because the person in front of us took forever. I guess he had a very thick file. So they did the questions, One was who was the speaker of the house, the rest he couldn't remember, he got all six and he completely botched the spelling on writing but he spelled it phoentically (because my husband has dyslexia) and the officer got the gist of what he was writing.

Moved on to the paperwork, my birth cert copy, showed the original and marriage cert. We had no previous marriages and onto our taxes. He said he was happy to see we had filed married and jointly because he had to deny three people that day because they had filed head of household. You can filed married seperately or married jointly but not as head of household. Of course, I have my business CPA look over my taxes but I thought head of household was reserved for singles. Then he took the rest of the documents for proof of marriage and said hy husband was recommended for approval and gave him a form and said to wait for his oath letter. He came out and gave me the nod.

I met him in the first row of the seats and showed me the letter and I started crying :crying: like a total dork. I practically dragged him to the floor cuz of his bad knee. After a while I calmed down. So when we started going through all the papers, I looked at our stuff and said "Oh my god, babe, where's the deed to our house???" He gave the officer the deed to our house, not the copy!! I started flailing bad but I knew we could fix it. Anyway, we flagged down a security officer and he got our officer from the name on his sheet and he came out. I showed him what it looked like and that it was in an envelope with my name on it. He came out a minute later, laughing and gave it back to me. I told my husband he was worth the house :D we'd live in a shack if we had to.

After all that, a few minutes later, we had his oath letter and we went to an early dinner and celebrated. Back on Friday with more adventures of citizenship in Orlando!! :luv: :luv:
